We are pleased to announce a new opportunity under the Transforming African Food Systems to Sustainability (TAFS) initiative, implemented by the Alliance for Food Sovereignty in Africa (AFSA) with support from the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA). AFSA is commissioning a consultancy to develop communication campaign materials and messaging on agroecological products cross-border trade in the East African Community (EAC). This effort is part of our broader campaign, My Food is African, and aims to strengthen citizen awareness, policy influence, and stakeholder engagement in advancing agroecological trade integration across Eastern Africa. The consultant will be responsible for developing a compelling communications strategy, producing creative content (infographics, fact sheets, social media materials, short videos, radio scripts, etc.), and proposing a dissemination and advocacy plan. The campaign will elevate agroecological trade as a driver of food sovereignty, climate justice, and economic resilience — particularly for smallholders, women, and youth. We invite qualified firms or individuals with expertise in communications, agroecology, regional trade, and public campaigns to submit technical and financial proposals no later than 5:00 PM EAT on 24 September 2025. The email subject line should read: “Proposal to Develop Communication Campaign Materials and Messaging on Agroecological Products Cross Border Trade in the East African Community (EAC)” 👉 To view the full Terms of Reference (ToR), please download here: https://lnkd.in/gqKkA8t4

Yesterday in Rome, Alberta Nana Akyaa Akosa, National Lead of the World Food Forum Ghana Chapter and Executive Director of Agrihouse Foundation, participated as a panelist at the first Intergenerational Roundtable during the 2025 World Food Forum Global Youth Forum Opening Ceremony, held at the FAO Headquarters. The discussion centered on the theme “Youth in Agrifood Policy and Governance,” bringing together passionate panelists and visionary young leaders from around the world. Throughout the session, these questions guided the conversation: Are young people truly being given a seat and a voice at the policy table where the future of food is being shaped? How can we bridge the gap between youth innovation and policy influence? What structures must we build to ensure youth don’t just participate, but lead the governance of agrifood systems in a way that is inclusive, resilient and future-driven? It was an inspiring exchange of ideas about the future of our global agrifood systems and we extend gratitude to the World Food Forum for providing this empowering platform and to all panelists for their insights and shared commitment to advancing youth leadership in agrifood policy and governance.
