Turning Data into Action ✅ In Northern Malawi, a single road connects the Malawi Blood Transfusion Service hub in Mzuzu to hospitals in Karonga and Chitipa. When floods wash out bridges, life-saving blood deliveries stall and emergencies become critical. Africa CAN Fellow, Steven Bowah, turned this frontline challenge into evidence for action. By analyzing blood requests and deliveries and combining quantitative trends with interviews from couriers, hospitals, and disaster management officials, Steven and partners identified how floods disrupt supply chains and how data can guide solutions. Through local collaboration, Steven’s project shows how leading with localism, building trust, and connecting cross-sector partners can drive meaningful change.
