I can just visualise the average retail investor conducting a proper due diligence before putting in INR 10 lakhs, considering most retail investors have been so good at F&O trading. Most people are going to put in money blindly, and then pray the SIF is not on the other side of a whale like Jane Street.

Great introduction to SIFs! Long-short strategies through derivatives can provide downside protection but require careful manager selection. The distinction between tactical vs core allocation is critical - these funds excel at hedging volatility but shouldn't anchor a portfolio given their complexity and fee structures.
