APFN 11 came to an end yesterday, but the selection committee for the APFN awards 2025 is happy to recognize The Change Initiative, led by facilitation expert and futurist Jost Wagner, for its outstanding contribution to advancing the mission of the Asia-Pacific Futures Network (APFN) — to cultivate a “Forest of Foresight.” The selection committee would like to highlight three key achievements: 🌿 First, The Change Initiative’s pivotal role in co-organizing, co-hosting, and co-facilitating several APFN conferences since 2018. Through these efforts, the organization has played a central part in expanding and strengthening our community of futurists and foresight practitioners across the region. 🌿 Second, its commitment to creating affordable and accessible courses with senior futurists. These programs have inspired a significant number of individuals and organizations to embrace futures thinking — not only as a concept, but as a practice embedded in everyday work and strategic decision-making. They have also connected a growing number of futurists with new partners, projects, and opportunities for collaboration. 🌿 Finally, The Change Initiative is acknowledged for its “guerrilla foresight” approach — subtly weaving futures thinking tools and mindsets into facilitation work with organizations such as the United Nations, governments, and development agencies. This creative approach demonstrates that futures literacy can flourish anywhere people come together to shape change. #FuturesThinking #Foresight #APFN #AsiaPacificFuturesNetwork #TheChangeInitiative #FuturesLiteracy #Facilitation #Collaboration #Innovation #StrategicForesight #SystemsThinking #ChangeMakers

On the margins of the Astana Think Tank Forum, I had a follow-up discussion with Professor Li Yongquan, Director of the Institute for the Social Development of Europe and Asia of the Research Center under the PRC's State Council. In our exchange, we continued to delve into opportunities for enhancing the IICA's (The International Institute for Central Asia) capacity-building through targeted training and upskilling. Once implemented, these initiatives might allow us to address skill gaps, foster continuous learning, adopt new technologies, and build a skilled, motivated workforce.
