Reflecting on a Facebook memory today, and it’s like opening a time capsule filled with pivotal moments. Ten years ago, my life took a huge turn. My family had already made the bold decision to immigrate from Romania to France, where I learned a new language, succeeded in school, and built a life full of amazing friendships and experiences. But this moment— 10 years ago being accepted into a study abroad program in Spain—was pivotal in so many ways. That’s when my journey truly accelerated - I always call it the moment when I spread my wings. I immigrated again, started my career after graduation, fell in love, and learned a third language, and made friends who live all around the world. Fast forward to today, and I’ve moved four times, perfected a fourth language, got married to the love of my life, graduated with a Master’s, and own a little piece of land in the capital of the US. Funnily enough, today also marks the day of a promotion and makes fortunate to have a fulfilling career with one of the largest international development organizations. But there’s one thing I haven’t done—I haven’t returned to my second home, France. In fact, I’ve now lived away from it longer than I actually lived there. I miss it - my dearest friends and my family, but I also embrace this incredible adventure life has given me. I’ve always been a master of my life, and even if I forget sometimes, I am so proud of everything that I have accomplished through hard work and sacrifice. And I am so immensely grateful for those who stuck with me in this journey, who provided me support, love, and acceptance even when we are separated by oceans. Who knows where I’ll be in the next ten years? Here’s to the journey! ✨ #LifeJourney #ImmigrantStory #InternationalLife #Grateful
