🫀 Your heart does more than beat—it connects everything. With this week's #WorldHeartDay in mind, we’re shining a light on the most vital muscle in your body and the urgent need to protect it. 💙 But it’s not just about the heart. Obesity, type 2 diabetes, liver and kidney disease—they’re all part of the cardiovascular-kidney-metabolic (CKM) syndrome. And it’s costing lives. That’s why we’re highlighting the global burden of poor CKM health, which affects millions and increases cardiovascular risk across nearly every organ system.¹ 🔍 Seeing the full picture means earlier detection, better care, and better outcomes. CARE-IN-HEALTH: Advancing Cardiovascular Health Through Inflammation Resolution. Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the leading cause of death and a major cause of morbidity in Europe, affecting over 49 million people and costing the EU economy €200 billion annually, despite major advances in prevention and treatment. The CARE-IN-HEALTH project (CArdiovascular REsolution of INflammation to promote HEALTH), funded by the EU Horizon Europe Programme European Commission, addresses a critical unmet medical need: chronic inflammation, a key driver in the transition from health to CVD. The dysregulated chronic inflammation behind atherosclerotic CVD (ASCVD) and its cardiovascular consequences are largely caused by a failure in the resolution of inflammation. Elevated levels of blood lipids (hyperlipidemia) are well documented risk factors for ASCVD. 🔬 Our focus: - Explore how appropriate lipid intake can promote the resolution of inflammation and support global prevention strategies. - Develop and test practical tools in real-life settings for healthcare systems and citizens to monitor inflammation and stay healthy. 🌍 Project Highlights: - 10 partners across 6 European countries - Coordination by Inserm under the direction of Professor Magnus Bäck CARE-IN-HEALTH is paving the way toward innovative, prevention-focused strategies for cardiovascular health and healthier ageing. 🔗 Learn more: care-in-health.eu #HorizonEurope #CAREINHEALTH #CardiovascularHealth #Inflammation #Resolution #PrecisionMedicine #HealthyAgeing #ResearchInnovation #Lipidomics #EUProjects

Low back pain isn’t just common, it’s an epidemic: ☑️ 628 million people worldwide live with it today. ☑️ By 2050, that number could reach 843 million. (Source: WHO) And the reason is poor metabolic health, which plays a role in both back pain and fatty liver disease (MASLD/MASH). When the liver struggles to process fat and sugar, systemic inflammation increases. That same inflammation affects muscles, bones, and joints, contributing to chronic pain and mobility issues. And when back pain limit movement? It worsens metabolic health, creating a cycle of fatigue, pain, and disease progression. That’s why holistic care matters. At Fibronostics, we empower clinicians with non-invasive tools like LIVERFASt™ & LIVERSTAT helping detect liver issues early so patients can take control before it affects more than just one organ. This World Spine Day (Oct 16), let’s remember -> A stronger spine starts with better metabolic health. 🔗 Read more to find the connection between liver health & spine: https://zurl.co/yeRZt #liverhealth #spine #fibronostics

With almost 70% of US adults facing chronic conditions like cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and obesity, lifestyle interventions play a crucial role in addressing these health challenges. Employers need to understand the interconnected nature of these conditions and avoid isolated solutions. Comprehensive evaluation, long-term support, and coverage for lifestyle interventions are key, even when considering medications. I'm grateful to the Midwest Business Group on Health for inviting me to represent OPM at the Tackling the Chronic Condition Trifecta: Cardiovascular, Diabetes, and Obesity Forum. It was a valuable opportunity to highlight OPM's focus on evidence-based lifestyle interventions and the importance of measuring plan performance by Carriers for effective chronic condition management.

Strong statement from Boehringer Ingelheim Chairman of the Board of Managing Directors, Shashank Deshpande: We have to align health systems around the needs of patients, not around diseases, if we want to make meaningful progress in tackling the global burden of non-communicable diseases. #NCDs #UNGA80
Chairman of the Board of Managing Directors & Head of Human Pharma at Boehringer Ingelheim | Life Forward
1 in 10 adults live with chronic kidney disease (CKD) - yet 9 out of 10 don’t know it. This week at the United Nations, I’m calling for global action to break silos in healthcare and prioritize integrated care for cardiovascular, renal, and metabolic (CRM) conditions. These diseases - including chronic kidney disease, heart failure, fatty liver and obesity - often co-exist and amplify one another. Collectively, CRM conditions are the leading cause of death worldwide, responsible for 1 in 3 deaths. Yet care remains fragmented, leaving patients to navigate multiple specialists and conflicting treatments alone. We must do better. At Boehringer Ingelheim, we’re advocating for a new political declaration that fully recognizes the impact of CKD and the need for holistic, patient-centered care. We’re also partnering with health systems around the world to improve early detection of CRM conditions and the coordination of their treatment. My message is clear: Let’s align health systems around the needs of patients - not diseases. #UNGA80 #LifeForward
