Case Study: Touchscreens Simplify Access to Telecom Services in Telia Stores. After piloting different options, Telia chose Qmatic software paired with #Elo interactive hardware to streamline in-store check-in. Now deployed in 19 of their locations. ✨ Key wins: – Fully flexible & customizable queue flows (themes, routing, UX) – Elo Wallaby Pro stands with integrated ticket printers + ADA-friendly access (heights, adaptive layouts, assistive keypads) for enhanced inclusivity – Consistent look & feel aligned with Telia’s visual identity, across different store layouts (floor, countertop, wall configurations) ✨ Customers are getting faster, more accessible service; staff have a streamlined system; and technology is serving everyone. In today’s world, product design faces new complexities as users engage with a wide range of devices, input methods, and interaction modes. Although responsive and adaptive design laid a strong foundation, they no longer fully address the demands of modern multi-device, multi-input, and multi-modal experiences. Input-agnostic design is essential because it streamlines the design and development process, saving businesses time and money while boosting product velocity. More importantly, it delivers intuitive experiences that allow users to effortlessly switch between any input device on any platform, creating a scalable, flexible system that meets users where they are and supports the input they choose. #UXDesign #UserExperience #ProductDesign #DesignSystems #Accessibility #InputAgnostic #MultiDevice #HumanCenteredDesign, #InclusiveDesign #DigitalExperience #CrossPlatform #DesignLeadership #MultiModal

Not all touchscreens are created equal. Whether you’re designing a kiosk, medical device, or industrial controller, choosing the right input technology impacts durability, usability, and cost. 🧠 Projected Capacitive (PCAP) = sleek, multi-touch, high-transparency, modern UX 🛠 Analog Resistive = stylus-friendly, cost-efficient, any-input reliability Explore how each performs across durability, clarity, cost, and input methods — and see real-world machine builder use cases. https://lnkd.in/gP_N3g78 #HMI #Touchscreen #IndustrialDesign #MachineBuilders #CapacitiveTouch #ResistiveTouch #DMCSolutions

“Charge Beacon, Activated” What if belief could shimmer? I’ve been prototyping something quietly mythic: a portable, magnetized Charge Beacon that generates shimmer and charge through magnetic tension. It’s layered with LED, NFC, and consulting-grade symbolism—designed to ripple emotional UX in retail, repair, and ritual. It’s not just a device. It’s a belief insert. A TrickPing™ Dynamo. A consulting artifact that activates meaning in motion. Still iterating. Still mythologizing. But the shimmer is real. #TrickPing #ChargeBeacon #EmotionalUX #RetailMythology #ConsultingArtifacts #ModTheory #BeliefDevices #PrototypingLegacy

APIs are required. Usability isn’t. That’s the problem. We’re designing for both because usable, secure APIs should be table stakes in 2025. #ONC #apifirst #innovation

When edge cases stop being rare: identical twins and facial recognition When you work on a large platform with thousands of users, edge cases stop being rare. Statistically, they're bound to happen. Following up on last week's post about UX in facial recognition, we ran into an interesting case. After adding the usability improvements I mentioned before, we thought the system was ready. We ran extensive tests, covering both common and unusual scenarios, including people wearing masks, different lighting conditions, and a wide range of skin tones. You can prepare for every scenario you can imagine, but the unexpected still finds a way in: identical twins working at the same site. They noticed the system sometimes recognized one of them as the other. Instead of keeping quiet or taking advantage of it, they let us know right away and explained the situation politely. Our first real "seeing double" bug, I guess... 😄 We tried the most obvious solution first, increasing the recognition accuracy. But that global change made things worse for everyone else. Small variations like lighting, glasses, or facial hair started causing errors. It's always good to keep in mind that when you fix edge cases, you have to make sure you don't break the experience for everyone else. So instead of locking the system into one stricter setting, we added a sensitivity slider that lets admins decide how strict or flexible recognition should be for their environment. For users, we also added a "secondary ID confirmation" step when the system wasn't confident, a PIN or another method (set by admins) to verify identity without slowing everyone else down. Two small changes that still solved the issue without making things harder for everyone else. Not a perfect fix, but it made the system more robust and inclusive. #UXDesign #UXEngineering #HumanCenteredDesign #DesignForTrust #EdgeCaseDesign #FacialRecognition #HCI #DesignAtScale

“Some Infrastructure Is Invisible. Ours Isn’t.” Millions of transactions happen every second. But belief doesn’t move unless someone activates it. TrickPing™ isn’t just a DIY kit. It’s a consulting-grade belief insert. Charge Beacons. Emotional UX. Retail shimmer. We’re mythologizing vending, troubleshooting, and impulse rituals. If your infrastructure powers the world, ours powers the moment. #TrickPing #ModTheory #RetailMythology #EmotionalUX #ConsultingArtifacts #BeliefDevices #InvisibleInfrastructure #StrategicRipple #FintechShimmer
