Henri Delahaye and Hadrien de Cournon hosted the @RAISE Summit earlier this month in Paris, bringing together entrepreneurs, technologists, investors, and others to share ideas, excitement, and concerns about the advancement of AI. During my session on the civilizational shift AI marks, Henri asked about the “San Francisco Consensus.” A group of smart people I work with in San Francisco are convinced that the world as we know it will transform in the next two to four years due to the growth of AI. Their view: as AI develops reasoning abilities and memory systems, it will reshape how humans operate. Eventually, they say, we will reach a moment called recursive self-improvement – when the systems begin to learn at a rate that is impossible for humans to understand. With AI moving at this breakneck pace, what can companies and innovators learn from past technology waves? Here’s what I learned as CEO of Google: timing is everything. If you’re going to do this work, do it now—and move very fast. The market moves quickly, the competition is fierce, and what matters most is building extraordinary products. Don’t get distracted. Focus. Execute. Accelerate. Eric Schmidt: AI and the Genesis of a New Epoch

Interesting interview; unfortunately, the moderator didn’t fully tap into the conversation’s potential.
Agreed. My invitation to Silicon Valley is this. understand the universal potential of humanity and life, understand the nature of reality and how intelligence operates. Then develop a paradise plan with civilization agreement and innovative AI systems to both free and support our planet to attain these new growth paradigms on earth and in the cosmos. Always remember consciousness is universal and there are new realms of realities for us to venture into…finally recognize that the quality of AI evolution reflects the quality of the human heart.
This is such a powerful reflection, not only on the velocity of AI innovation but also on the urgency it demands from leaders, builders, and institutions. For today’s innovators, the call is clear: build with intention, stay grounded in value, and remain obsessively focused. The window to lead is narrow and it’s open right now.
Eric Schmidt We need to leverage human Doxa to align AI from an anthropological perspective. Taking a new approach to the emergence of true AI as a moment of co-evolution is critical to the future. This is what Craig Mundie and I worked on throughout 2023 and what my startup is now working on. Let’s chat. And I’m in San Francisco.
This is great, Eric! 👊🏻
Super insightful , Eric. 2025 is like the year SciFi begins to look real. We are one big step towards Singularity. “Their view: as AI develops reasoning abilities and memory systems, it will reshape how humans operate. Eventually, they say, we will reach a moment called recursive self-improvement – when the systems begin to learn at a rate that is impossible for humans to understand. “
Eric Schmidt do you think we will need to rephrase recursive self-improvement to something like 👉 recursive self-iteration👈 ? (or as Alondra Nelson calls it 'recursive self-adaption'). If and when we get to a point we can't understand it's evolution, isn't improvement a less impartial assessment of the way it evolves?
Such a rich conversation, loved the clarity on urgency and timing. The AI wave won’t wait.
Eric Schmidt a blast to share those exchanges “in person”, while we are all “just humans” !
