The concept I chose to comment on for this post are SDG's. According to the World Health Organization, SDG's are a global roadmap of 17 goals for sustainable development. As we have been taught, social entrepreneurship involves using certain business models to create social and environmental impact to help solve issues like poverty and climate change; while conventionally trying to adhere to into the 17 goals. The relevancy between this concept and our course is that social entrepreneurs are key actors in driving progress toward the SDGs because their business solutions can create sustainable and scalable impact, which is something we all need to create more consciousness of to keep contributing to better effort of a good world. #sustainability #rollins #college #sdgs #worldhealthorganization

Designing an effective accelerator programme is no small task. Too often, programmes rely on one-size-fits-all content, theoretical lectures, or short-term support that doesn’t meet entrepreneurs’ realities. At Impact Hub Network, we take a different approach. Our programmes are co-created with participants, tailored through real needs assessments, and grounded in hands-on expertise. We also go beyond the usual curriculum by amplifying entrepreneurs’ stories, creating lasting communities, and ensuring value for both participants and partners. 🙋♀️ The Bayer Foundation Women Entrepreneurs Award is a strong example of a programme co-designed with participants and our corporate partner to deliver impact that is both meaningful and sustainable. The Social Side of Entrepreneurship – Can Businesses Solve Real Problems ? Social entrepreneurship combines innovation with social impact, using business strategies to solve real-world problems like poverty, inequality, and climate change. Unlike traditional profit-driven models, social enterprises balance revenue with purpose. Examples like Patagonia, TOMS, and Selco Solar show how sustainability and community empowerment can drive success. Organizations like Ashoka support such changemakers globally. Ultimately, modern entrepreneurs are redefining success—not by profit alone, but by their positive impact on people and the planet.🍃🌏 👉to know more ,visit link https://ecellapv.in/blog/3 E-Cell, IIT Bombay #ecellineverycollege #nec_ecell_iitBombay #BusinessForGood #Sustainability #InnovationForImpact #EthicalBusiness🎯

Attending the IEF Conference this year was a powerful reminder of how critical small businesses and entrepreneurs are to South Africa’s economic future. Here are a few standout highlights from the Mister of Small Business Development talk: B20 to Include Small Businesses Historically focused on big corporates, the B20 will now make space for entrepreneurs and small businesses through a new working group supported by the Department of Small Business and Entrepreneurship. Startup20 Unit is Coming A dedicated Startup20 unit is being developed to support startup ecosystems more intentionally. National Entrepreneurship Strategy Recently approved for public commentary, this strategy aims to reshape how we empower entrepreneurs nationwide. Have your say! Access to Finance The issue isn’t a lack of funding, it’s access. Solutions discussed include: • A pooled fund to create accessible financing • Alternative surety models (e.g., using livestock or other assets with insurance backing) Access to Markets We need to look at real market challenges and simplify the journey for entrepreneurs, including: • Easier licensing • Reduced compliance burdens • Support in both pre- and post-business development Business Act Amendment An amendment to the Business Act is on the horizon, focused on streamlining business licensing. Public participation will be vital once it's open for comment. Empowering Entrepreneurs Through the Constitution A powerful theme: learning how to leverage the Constitution to advance entrepreneurial interests. Digital Innovation Keep an eye on Lovable, an App designed to support entrepreneurs (more details to come). Energy + Entrepreneurship The Department is working with the Minister of Energy to open up renewable energy opportunities for entrepreneurs as part of the solution to our energy crisis. The Big Goal: 11 Million Jobs by 2030 There's a real energy behind enabling entrepreneurship in South Africa. If we collaborate, innovate, and remove barriers, we can absolutely get there. Let’s keep building. #IEF2025 #Entrepreneurship #SmallBusiness #Startup20 #AccessToFinance #AccessToMarkets #NationalEntrepreneurshipStrategy #SouthAfrica #PublicParticipation

💫 Wrapping up the IMPACT project The Impact Measurement through Partnership, Assessment and Communicating Transparently (IMPACT) project set out with a clear goal: to lay the foundations for long-term cooperation that helps social entrepreneurs better measure their impact and communicate it to the world. Over the course of the past months, we’ve worked hand-in-hand with partners in SEAG in Georgia and EcoVisio in Moldova to: 🔹 Exchange the tools and knowledge needed to deliver high-quality impact measurement & management (IMM) support. 🔹 Recognize that local context matters – adapting our approach to address the specific needs of social entrepreneurs in each country. 🔹 Build bridges through cross-sector collaboration, paving the way for sustained cooperation and unlocking future opportunities. By strengthening the capacity of our organisations, we’re not only supporting individual social entrepreneurs – we’re helping to grow a stronger, more resilient social entrepreneurship ecosystem. This project was funded by Svenska institutet and we are so grateful to them for making it possible! The IMPACT project may be wrapping up, but the foundations are now in place for deeper collaboration and long-term change. #ImpactMeasurement #SocialEntrepreneurship #IMM #Collaboration #FutureReady

Working together with my supervisor, Dr. Oto Potluka, I’m happy to share that our book chapter on Entrepreneurship and the role of the economic, social, and environmental dimensions of Corporate Social Responsibility has been published with Edward Elgar Publishing Our study examines how companies balance the economic, social, and environmental dimensions of Corporate Social Responsibility and how these priorities interact within corporate practice. The chapter contributes to understanding how private enterprises can align their business goals with broader social and environmental responsibilities, thereby advancing public value and promoting sustainable growth. 📖 Read the chapter here: https://lnkd.in/dtYCSwnk #Entrepreneurship #CSR #Sustainability #CorporateResponsibility

Social entrepreneurship has shown how businesses can drive real impact, but this responsibility doesn’t stop there. Every business needs to align with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to build a better future. And as educators, we need to go beyond just including sustainability in our modules. We have to live it in our teaching and day-to-day practice, so students can see it as something essential and not as an add-on, but as a vital part of how business is done. The environment and the SDGs are stakeholders too just like customers, investors, and employees. It's time we treat them that way. #Sustainability #SDGs #SocialEntrepreneurship #BusinessEducation #ResponsibleBusiness #FutureLeaders #Sustainability #SDGs #SocialEntrepreneurship #ResponsibleBusiness #BusinessEducation #FutureLeaders #Impact

🟢 Can entrepreneurship contribute to peacebuilding? At first glance, the connection might seem distant. Yet, around the world, scholars and policymakers are paying increasing attention to how entrepreneurship can support peace from the ground up. Traditional, top-down peacebuilding efforts, often led by NGOs and international organizations, have met several challenges in achieving long-term results. Instead, entrepreneurship can support a bottom-up approach: by creating jobs, building skills, and strengthening communities, entrepreneurs can address root causes of conflict such as poverty and inequality. Some social enterprises even build their business around that and center peacebuilding directly in their mission. 🇨🇴 One such story comes from Colombia. Next week, we invite you to join the event on “How do we build peace in Colombia?”, featuring Silverio Cardozo, Andrés Felipe Quintero, and Yenny Velásquez, members of the Alianza Cafetera de Colombia. Representing more than 200 associations and cooperatives, they work with over 15,000 coffee-producing families to turn small-scale coffee growing into a force for stability, dignity, and environmental stewardship. Their work in bringing farmers together, growing coffee, and protecting both people and nature, shows that business, at its best, can also be a path toward peace. Venue: Dalgas Have 15, 2000 Frederiksberg, Copenhagen Business School Date: 22 October 2025 Time: 16:00–17:30 Let’s rethink what entrepreneurship can achieve when growth and peace go hand in hand. EXCITING NEWS! MERSEs new social value assessment and communication tool presented in webinar 💡 On October 22, MERSE hosted an international webinar exploring how rural social enterprises can better measure and communicate their social value. More than 40 participants from nine countries joined the session, which was co-hosted by Mittuniversitetet and Ruralia Institute - University of Helsinki. The webinar offered a mix of research insights, practical tools and inspiring examples from the field. A key highlight was the presentation of the first version of MERSE’s new online tool – designed to help small social enterprises assess and communicate their impact in a way that is simple, accessible, and relevant. The tool was developed with the needs of small organizations in mind and will be released as a free resource for anyone to use. Participants also heard from Veronica Schenke Reinås från Eikre Activity in Norway, who shared how her enterprise works with social impact in practice. The session concluded with a workshop where the participants engaged actively in a feedback session, suggesting features like onboarding support and tailored reporting options. The input will guide the next phase of development, ensuring the tool is as useful and user-friendly as possible. This event was a meaningful step toward strengthening the visibility and sustainability of rural social entrepreneurship. We’re looking forward to continuing this work and supporting rural social enterprises in making their impact visible.
