Your safety on the road matters! Texting, speeding, and drink driving are still the 3 biggest killers on EU roads, with almost 20,000 victims in 2024. The time for change is now. Members of the European Parliament have backed new driving licence rules that aim to reduce accidents and save lives. Rules,Rules and Rules ! This is the actual occupational therapy we can expect from the EU. Do they live in the same world as we ?
Strengthening public transport, at least in big cities, might help as well!
Let’s regulate and sanction driving and/or do surveillance on driving for the public. In these two or three areas Brussels and Strasbourg are at least really good at and definitely at the top.
Would our reaction be different if this was 20000 deaths from a war?

Eh
Prevention is smart. Thank you for this message. I look forward to seeing a similar campaign from institutions to penalize bullies and liars in politics, the media, and education. We, as adults, need to make children understand that in the adult world, there are also punitive legal consequences for hoaxes, even if they are journalists or businesspeople. Because good examples save lives.
The only solution is very simple, HIGH LEVEL PUNISHMENT for those who drink or take drugs and drive ⛔️❌️
Nonsense! For example speeding and drink driving is much more common in Sweden than in Finnland. However, safety in Sweden is essentially better. Free speeds were abolished in Finland in the early 1970s with no noticeable effect on the number of traffic deaths. The decline in deaths that occurred around the same time was due to completely different factors, namely continuous improvement of road and car safety that had started in the 1960s. It is a very shame that politicians and civil servants make decisions based on their emotions and bureaucratic logic and do not listen neither to safety professionals nor road users.

1wPriorities, priorities.... Almost 20,000 dead on EU roads in 2024 – huge tragedy. Meanwhile, 47,346 suicides in 2021. But hey, let’s legislate car licences first. Survivors, as always, take the back seat. Get it ? back seat... XD nuff said. -.- source: https://ec.europa.eu/eurostat/web/products-eurostat-news/w/edn-20240909-1
