"It is not the elephant in the room, but the literal room." Buildings are responsible for 39% of global carbon emissions 🏡 To understand the impact buildings have on both our human wellbeing, but also the planetary health I had a conversation with the amazing Lenna A. Lockwood on my podcast. Lenna is the founder of Prospera, a regenerative real estate consultancy reimagining how buildings can support both human thriving and planetary health. Did you know that we spend 90% of our time indoors? Nevertheless buildings are rarely seen as health interventions. I have to admit, I was blown away by how design, neuroscience, and storytelling intersect and the influence they have on us and our surroundings - as well as how some companies already use them for positive sustainable change. Here are 5 more ideas we explored: 🌳 How biophilic design can increase willingness to pay. 📈 Why solar panels are storytelling tools, even when they don’t perform perfectly. 🧠 What neuroarchitecture teaches us about stress, collaboration, and better thinking at work. 💡 How buildings can nudge healthy behavior through better staircases, gardens, or even recipe cards. 🏡 Why a regenerative building makes healthy choices easy, for people and planet. Thank you so much Lenna for our lovely and inspiring conversation! And special thanks to Chloé de Ruffray for introducing us! I will link to the full podcast in the comments 💚
Wow such a complex and interesting topic! I'll give it a listen!
Ein hochrelevantes Thema, leider immer noch ein bisschen Nische. Schön, dass du einen Fokus darauf richtest.
It was such a pleasure to share and connect. I love the insights you brought, Florian Schleicher and our impromptu biophilic assessment of Vienna's historic public library! Thank you for giving a platform to these topics so dear to my heart.
