FanDuel quietly built a $50 billion empire (and they did it in less than a decade). When PASPA was overturned in 2018, dozens of sportsbooks rushed to grab market share. DraftKings made headlines, BetMGM and Caesars spent billions, ESPN Bet and Fanatics entered the race. But while the competition burned cash, FanDuel pulled ahead, now controlling roughly half of the U.S. online sports betting market. Their parent company, Flutter Entertainment, has transformed from a small Irish bookmaker into the world’s largest online sports betting and iGaming operator. And with Americans expected to wager $30 billion during the 2025 NFL season alone, FanDuel is better positioned than anyone to dominate the next decade. Back in 2017, Adam Wexler was told the daily fantasy market was already spoken for. DraftKings Inc. and FanDuel had it locked. But instead of competing on their terms, he went a different way. He built PrizePicks. Not for sharps or whales...instead for the every day sports fan. Two picks. Six picks. Simple, fast, fun. That simplicity turned into scale. Millions of users. Hundreds of millions in handle. PrizePicks quietly became the largest privately held fantasy operator in North America. And Monday the underdog became the headline: Allwyn (one of Europe’s biggest gaming giants) agreed to buy a majority stake. The deal values PrizePicks at up to $4.15 billion. Think about that. From an idea the industry overlooked…to one of the largest fantasy sports exits ever. Adam didn’t just build a company. He cracked open a new lane in an industry that said there was no room left.

In-game betting moves at slot machine speed. As the NBA's 2025-26 season tips off, Amazon Prime + FanDuel are embedding live odds directly into broadcasts. Betting is not a sidebar anymore but the main event. And it's about to explode globally. The numbers: 🔸 Over 50% of wagers are now in-game 🔸 Oregon bettors placed $100M+ on live table tennis last year 🔸 Global market: $107B in 2024 → $261B by 2034 Faster betting = faster losses. Regulators see it. Players feel it. The industry knows it. When someone can bet between free throws, responsible gaming has to be instant, intuitive, and ironclad. As platforms race across borders, language becomes infrastructure. A mistranslated deposit limit in Mandarin. A culturally misaligned helpline prompt in Portuguese. A "cooling-off period" that loses meaning in translation. These aren't minor UX issues. They are the difference between compliance and crisis.
