It often starts with the offer of a job, a better life or a fresh start. But behind that promise, there’s danger. Most victims don’t even realise what’s happening until it’s too late. On the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, let’s take a moment to raise awareness. Always double check offers that seem too good to be true, trust your instincts and know that you can turn to the authorities for help.  At Frontex, we work with partners across Europe to stop human trafficking before it happens. Together, we focus on prevention, early detection and protecting those most at risk. Just earlier this month, we joined Romanian authorities at airports to spot signs of human trafficking. Over 100 travellers were checked, leading to the identification of suspected traffickers and several people who may have been at risk.  More than 700 children were also carefully verified to make sure they were travelling safely and legally. We’re grateful to all the organisations and civil society groups who stood with us to protect people and raise awareness. Together, we helped more travellers spot the warning signs and stay safe.
