Spain has taken a decisive step toward mandatory climate accountability. Under its new Climate Emergency Plan, more than 4,000 companies will be required to report Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2026 and extend reporting to Scope 3 by 2028. Each company must also publish a five-year GHG reduction plan outlining measurable goals and timelines. This move strengthens the EU’s commitment to transparent corporate climate disclosure and reinforces the global momentum toward mandatory ESG reporting. At Net Zero Pro, we help organisations stay ahead of evolving sustainability regulations through data-driven compliance and carbon management strategies. 📩 info@netzeropro.ai #ESG #ClimateAction #Sustainability #NetZero #CarbonReporting #Spain #Scope3 #RegulatoryUpdate

⏳ In 11 months, generic and vague environmental claims by companies will no longer be allowed in Denmark. The EU’s Empowering Consumers for the Green Transition (#ECGT) Directive will start applying in September 2026, with other member states following on different dates. From then on, any decarbonisation targets need to be anchored in a credible and transparent climate transition plan. Across Denmark, many companies have set targets, but far fewer have mapped out how to reach them. The gap between ambition and action will soon carry compliance risks and reputational consequences. The good news? Companies that start developing their transition plan early can: 🔹 Turn regulation into opportunity 🔹 Strengthen their claims 🔹 Differentiate themselves in increasingly crowded markets Building a climate transition plan takes time, and companies that act now will be better positioned to adjust to the ECGT Directive. We have outlined the basics of climate transition planning below. 👇 ❄️ If you haven’t started yet or are unsure how to proceed, our Climate Lead Ole Høy Jakobsen can help you take the next strategic step.

Why Science-Based Climate Targets Are Our Strongest Tool for Change European Parliament’s Environment Committee (ENVI) has reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a high level of climate ambition calling for: ➡️ A science-based EU climate target for 2040, ➡️ A clear roadmap to phase out fossil fuel subsidies, and ➡️ Greater recognition of the climate impacts of global conflicts. This resolution underscores an essential truth: effective climate policy must be grounded in science, not sentiment. Science-based evidence gives us measurable, verifiable pathways to achieve the 1.5°C goal of the Paris Agreement. It provides transparency, accountability, and resilience in policymaking ensuring that actions taken today genuinely reduce emissions and promote a just, sustainable transition. Sticking with evidence-led decisions allows policymakers and industry leaders alike to: ➡️Avoid “greenwashing” by basing targets on real data, ➡️Balance environmental goals with economic competitiveness and social inclusion, ➡️Strengthen innovation in low-carbon technologies, and ➡️Build trust through credible progress tracking. Ending fossil fuel dependence and embedding science-based targets across all sectors from energy and transport to agriculture and manufacturing will be key to achieving climate neutrality by 2050. As the EU prepares its position for COP30, it’s vital that governments, businesses, and citizens stay united behind evidence, collaboration, and long-term thinking. Climate ambition is not just about policy it’s about shaping a future where sustainability and prosperity go hand in hand. https://lnkd.in/eka3jqqY #COP30 #ClimateAction #Sustainability #ScienceBasedTargets #ESG #EUClimatePolicy #EnergyTransition #CircularEconomy #ParisAgreement #CSRD #NetZero

Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs (DAERA) Minister Andrew Muir is driving the first Northern Ireland’s draft Climate Action Plan consultation, closing on 8th October. This is the time for C&I businesses to shape a greener, more profitable future. The plan isn't 'another/only' policy - it's a roadmap for cross-sector collaboration, from waste management and fisheries to public buildings and youth engagement. Indeed, this can be viewed as sector-neutral. Paired with the Climate Change Adaptation Programme, it focuses on resilience and sustainability, ensuring NI leads in a greener UK and Ireland. At Pulse Renewables, we’re driving support for our C&I clients capitalise on this moment. 𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐀𝐜𝐭 𝐍𝐨𝐰? 𝐂𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐒𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬: Reduce energy costs by up to 30% with solar and storage solutions. Our expert Frederic Hans shares his thoughts in a new commentary for Reuters on why the current corporate climate accountability system needs a rethink. As key accountability standards like Science Based Targets initiative (#SBTi) and GHG Protocol (#GHGP) are under revision throughout the year, there is a unique opportunity to shift the focus from headline targets to real, sector-specific transition plans. The piece centrally draws from findings from the Corporate Climate Responsibility Monitor 2025, published in July 2025. While none of the 20 assessed companies this year presents a fully credible climate strategy to align their business models with the Paris Agreement, several frontrunners set meaningful transition-specific alignment targets that offer clear, replicable examples of climate action today. By focusing on key sectoral transitions, accountability standards can provide clearer guidance and stronger incentives for businesses to transform their operations. ▶ Read the full piece: https://bit.ly/3KT6gd0 ▶ Explore CCRM 2025 full report: https://bit.ly/4mLhGgv

Make auditing your Scope 1, 2, and 3 carbon emissions so much easier, with these free resources from the SME Climate Hub. Auditing emissions slots neatly into an existing accounts process. For instance if you already log mileage, just add an emissions column alongside it. Simple tweaks like that build a clear picture over time for minimal effort. The SME Climate Hub (funded by the UN) offers two free carbon auditing frameworks, giving you a head start. There is a link in the first comment. I was introduced to this via the consultant working with us through East Devon’s Carbon Action Programme - and it’s been jolly useful. When we started out, we paid for tools like this - so hopefully, it gives other businesses a bit of a leg up.

The climate crisis demands every solution in our toolbox, yet this week's Article 6.4 Supervisory Body meeting threatens to exclude nature from carbon markets entirely. The draft "permanence standard" being considered could effectively block forests, mangroves, and other natural carbon sinks from the Paris Agreement carbon market mechanism. This isn't just a technical issue. Excluding nature-based solutions would severely limit climate finance for carbon-rich ecosystems and the Indigenous and local communities that safeguard them, while undermining developing nations' pathways to meeting their climate commitments. What's particularly troubling is how the current draft contradicts previous UNFCCC decisions that explicitly included all sectors in carbon markets. The science supports nature's critical role, yet this process has lacked both transparency and inclusive participation. The Supervisory Body should: • Reject the flawed permanence standard • Task the Methodological Expert Panel with creating a feasible alternative • Ensure comprehensive public review of any new proposal At #COP30, we cannot afford to artificially limit our climate response. Nature isn't optional in this fight—it's essential. This open letter signed by WCS and others says more: https://lnkd.in/gcjY32t9
