Transforming #Philanthropy: Building a Just Philanthropic Ecosystem ✨
A just philanthropy ecosystem requires funders to seek alignment, shared learning, and conversations that center needs for flexible funding and shifting power. Grassroots movements are better resourced and flourish when funders prioritize #collaboration over competition.
In 2024, Global Greengrants Fund invested significant time and resources into philanthropic partnerships that gather funders to learn and strategize together. We leveraged international conversations at spaces like #COP16 and #COP29, continued our partnership with groups like the CLIMA Fund, contributed to a report advocating for #GenderJust climate action, and more!

Joelson are delighted to announce that we have joined 1% for the Planet, pledging to donate at least 1% of our annual fee revenue to support environmental organisations worldwide.
At Joelson, sustainability isn’t just a commitment, it’s part of who we are. From achieving B Lab certification in 2023 to partnering with Ecologi | B Corp™ and advocating for the Better Business Act, we’re continually striving to make business a force for good. Alongside our environmental efforts, we’re proud to support City Harvest as our firm charity helping tackle London’s challenges of waste, inequality, and isolation by redistributing surplus food to those in need.
Joining 1% for the Planet connects us with a global community of businesses which have together raised over $700 million to support 7,200+ environmental partners worldwide.
We’re excited to continue building a more sustainable future for our clients, community and planet.

Philanthropic capital could be key to paving the way for more capital to come from the private sector as the role of philanthropic organisations in financing the transition away from fossil fuels towards cleaner energy sources is getting increasingly prominent.

Forward Global Member Randall Kempner is on a mission to change the climate philanthropy equation.
As Executive Director of the Climate Philanthropy Catalyst Coalition (CPCC), a project fiscally sponsored by Forward Global, he leads a network of philanthropic funders and advisors committed to bringing far more philanthropic support to #climate solutions worldwide. Through CPCC, Randall wants to triple U.S.-funded climate #philanthropy in five years.
With climate receiving less than two percent of global giving, Randall believes the level of philanthropic support falls well short of the urgency of the crisis at hand. “The climate crisis is real, and it impacts everything else: health, education, equity, and economic development. As a global philanthropic community, we have not been doing nearly enough,” he says.
As an avid participant in our Climate Action Lab, he works with peers who leverage all the tools available to philanthropic organizations. “It’s not just about money,” he says, “it’s about your connections, your time, and your voice.”
In the climate space, Randall says we need to focus more on implementation than invention: “Today, right now, we have all the scientifically proven solutions we need to address climate change. But, we are not investing enough in scaling them.”
He values Forward Global as a space where he can learn from thoughtful funders. In a world where climate change’s ripple effects reach virtually every other cause we care about, Randall is using both his CPCC platform and his personal and professional connections to ensure philanthropy is a driving force for solutions.

Climate philanthropy in action!
At #WGES, Naila Farouky, CEO of the Arab Foundations Forum, highlighted the critical role of philanthropy in tackling climate change, green economy, and resilience. By channeling funding towards sustainable solutions, foundations and funders can help accelerate the global transition to a cleaner, greener future.
Her remarks remind us that collaboration between philanthropy, business, and policy is key to addressing climate challenges for generations ahead.
