Everyone says that AI will never replace the human touch in sales. But if we’re honest, most of us stopped using it long before AI came along. Open your inbox and you’ll see the evidence with hundreds of identical messages starting with “Hey [First Name], hope you’re doing well!” followed by a generic pitch that could have been written by ChatGPT, a CRM, or a bored intern. And yet, these messages are sent by “real” people. Humans, hiding behind templates. We like to blame technology for killing authenticity, but automation didn’t create this problem, it just made it visible. It amplified what was already broken: the obsession with volume, the addiction to quick wins, and the belief that “personalization” means inserting a first name in a message you send to 500 others. AI didn’t make/invented sales cold. We did when we started caring more about metrics than meaning. I’m honestly so excited to see everyone adopting AI SDRs for their sales process. I really am. I hope every competitor jumps on the bandwagon because that just means more business for relationship based sales Automation is cool, AI is efficient, and the idea of a robot booking meetings for you while you sip coffee sounds great. If you've ever run a campaign that works I'm sure you can agree, emails aren't too hot and response rate is sitting around 1 to 5%. Even with strong personalization, the average email takes about 12 hours to even get opened, if it ever does. Fun fact, average cold call success rate is about 2 to 5%, depending on your industry I’m all for AI SDRs. They’ll handle the repetitive stuff and make outreach scalable. But the reality is, the space is still wide open. Tone neutrality and “robotic politeness” can only get you so far. At the end of the day, sales is still about connection, curiosity, and reading energy, things AI can’t replicate yet. And let’s be honest, even if AI SDRs start making cold calls, most companies will probably have to start with a disclaimer like “Hi, this is an AI calling you.” 😂 I don’t know about you, but I think a lot of people will hang up right there. #aisdr #sdr #sales #businessdevelopment
