VESSEL REVIEW: DEME has taken delivery of a new self-elevating wind turbine installation vessel (WTIV) from Chinese shipbuilder Yantai CIMC Raffles Offshore. 'Norse Wind' is the first in a new series of vessels that have been designed by NOV and GustoMSC to be capable of installing the next generation of large offshore wind turbines. 'Norse Wind' is equipped to install wind turbines with rotor diameters of more than 300 metres and XXL monopiles weighing up to 3,000 tons each. Typical transport configurations include six 15MW turbines, five 18MW turbines, or four 20MW turbines. https://lnkd.in/garbwwwB

The second offshore converter station topside for the project, known as “Link 2”, has been completed by Aibel at its Thailand yard and is now on its way to Europe. The two HVDC platforms are part of a contract with Ørsted and will use technology from Hitachi Energy. The first platform already arrived in June 2025 in Norway for final outfitting ahead of installation at sea in 2026. When Hornsea 3 becomes operational (in 2027) it will deploy around 200 Siemens Gamesa 14 MW turbines and produce roughly 2.9 GW of clean energy. https://lnkd.in/dikyVni7
