Authenticity and attention span: the A of building a lasting brand

Audience can smell inauthenticity faster than you can type. Every day, you scroll through hundreds of posts. Some catch your eye. Most don’t. What makes you stop isn’t design or length. It’s something simpler, ‘authenticity.’ → A voice that feels real. → A perspective that feels lived. → An insight that feels honest. We are drawn to people who write the way they would speak if they were sitting across the table from us. But authenticity alone is not enough. Because no matter how real your words are, they will vanish if you don’t respect attention span. Readers don’t owe us their time. They give it in fragments. Eight seconds to decide if they scroll. Ten lines to decide if they stay. One clear thought to decide if they remember. Attention span is not the enemy. It’s the stage. → It forces you to simplify. → To structure. → To sharpen your message. → Your hook is the invitation. → Your spacing is breathing room. → Your clarity is survival. Authenticity makes your brand human. Attention span makes your brand memorable. Without one, you are invisible. Without the other, you are forgotten. Together, they build a brand that feels real and stays remembered. Write with honesty, deliver with clarity. People don’t just need to trust your voice, they need to hear it, remember it, and return for more. // Welcome to my A–Z series on LinkedIn, where I share what works, what doesn’t, and how to build a brand that lasts. Today’s alphabet was A, where we explored authenticity and attention span.

I love how you break it down, authenticity grabs attention, but clarity keeps it. Writing in a way that’s real, structured, and memorable is such a powerful approach. Excited to follow your A-Z series and see how you bring these principles to life!"
