Such an important piece on understanding the damage that current narratives on migration cause. Instead of seeing migrants and refugees as threats or victims, an approach seeing them as humans should be developed. Migrants and refugees deserve the same human rights as everyone else, and this is clearly not respected in the new European Pact on Migration. #refugeeswelcome

The Pact on Migration and Asylum is now a reality after 4 years of difficult negotiations and many more years of trying to come up with common EU level rules to manage migration. The new rules aim at protecting our borders, protecting people in need and sharing that responsibility among EU countries in a fair and pragmatic way. A lot has been written about this agreement and much more will come as we start its implementation. But it’s important to check the facts and understand what the new rules do and what they don’t. All you need to know about the Pact can be found on our webpage which now has a handy description of each legislative file explaining what will change and how it will benefit asylum seekers but also the countries responsible for managing asylum requests. https://lnkd.in/eR5s-eXy The most common questions are answered here: https://lnkd.in/e7tTV6cX
