European University Alliances: whats in it for Industry? European university alliances like INGENIUM (https://lnkd.in/eaivEZbb) support industry through collaborative projects focused on real-world challenges, innovation, and skills development. The alliances and constituent universities represent the means for long-term partnerships between universities and various stakeholders, including companies, to create bespoke training opportunities, to maintain relevance of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, to boost entrepreneurial mindsets, and to develop new solutions, processes and products through collaboration in research, development and innovation activity to support and secure employment in local, national and European landscapes. University alliances can support industry through: 💡Wider European impact: Alliances aim to strengthen Europe's innovation capacity and competitiveness while promoting common European values and identity. 💡Challenge-based learning: Students and academics work with industry partners to solve real-world problems, leading to practical and innovative solutions, and fostering an entrepreneurial spirit in students. Innovation and skills development. 💡Alliances focus on boosting innovation and addressing skills gaps by designing new joint awards. 💡Partnerships beyond local academia: The alliances allow for collaborations with industry to delve deeper into the alliance to leverage expertise, research capacity in partner institutions as well as the potential to contact new markets. 💡Alliances include a broad range of partners beyond education, such as research institutions, civil society, and local and regional actors, which will be extended as models of collaboration are developed and new models are explored. Some relevant features of the European University Alliances include: 🤝Long-term strategy: The European Universities Alliances aim to build long-term, sustainable cooperation in education, research and innovation between higher education institutions, to provide support and to increasingly involve industries as 'associate partners' for mutual benefit, nationally and across Europe. 🤝Funding: The initiative is supported by a record budget under the Erasmus+ programme, with individual alliances receiving significant funding to support their activities. 🤝The creation of legal entities, such as the EGTC agreed by INGENIUM presidents and rectors last month, to enhance coordinated and overall policy and strategy, promises to secure larger funding grants for sustained and more sustainable technological advancement and competitiveness. #EuropeanUniversities #INGENIUM #Europe #EHEA #MTU

🤩 A milestone for WIL research at University West! 🤩 The first issue of our research publication Current Issues in Work-Integrated Learning (CIWIL) has been released! “It’s been a long process and a lot of hard work. This is a big step not only for University West but also for work-integrated learning (WIL) as a research field. Together with the Editorial Committee, the Editorial Board and the community surrounding WIL, I look forward to building a research journal that really helps tackle challenges related to sustainability and technological advances.”, says Ulrika Lundh Snis, Editor-In-Chief of CIWIL.   The aim of CIWIL is to encourage and contribute to innovative research focusing on the relationship between work and learning. 🌾 Building confident, connected researchers Over the past month, WAARC Postgraduate Program participants took part in two Cohort-Connect workshops with CSIRO National Innovation Facilitator Maren Strachan - exploring how to engage industry with purpose and communicate research with impact. With more than 20 years’ experience leading strategy and design initiatives across purpose-driven organisations, Ms Strachan brings deep expertise in helping teams translate complex ideas into actionable strategies. In her current role at CSIRO, she works with cross-disciplinary teams to design and deliver innovation that supports national priorities. The first session, Industry Engagement Ready, focused on the practical side of collaboration helping researchers understand the “why” and “how” of networking, engage in problem-centred conversations, and plan discussions using the 5 Es framework. The follow-up session, Impact Thinking, encouraged participants to explore the why behind their science and communicate their personal and professional impact with clarity and confidence. The University of Western Australia PhD student Huyen Pham said the sessions offered valuable insight into real-world communication. “I learned a lot about demonstrating industry impact and refined my impact story map based on Maren’s suggestions,” Ms Pham said. Strengthening the UK’s Research and Innovation Ecosystem through Collaboration It is encouraging to see the launch of ResearchPlus, a new strategic partnership that brings together ten research-intensive universities across the UK, including Brunel University of London, to champion research excellence, innovation, and skills development. This initiative represents a vital addition to the national research landscape. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝗰𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗮?  Every day at Erasmus University, researchers are uncovering insights that could change how we live, govern, and care for one another. But often, those insights stay within journals and conferences.  Valorisation is the process of bringing those ideas into the world: not just as businesses, but also as policies, tools, or services that create real-world impact. It’s about asking: what if this knowledge could help someone outside academia? For some, that means co-designing with municipalities to shape safer streets. For others, it’s creating a training program that equips young professionals with new skills. For a few, it might even become a start-up.  What matters is that research, when shared, has the power to transform lives. And we, at ERBS - Academic Incubator of Erasmus University Rotterdam want to support researchers to take those steps, at their own pace, in their own way.
