Ifakara Health Institute’s Post

🥗🏃♀️ STUDY: Exercise, nutrition alone can’t boost learning 💪🏽📚 🧒🏽🧠 Can daily exercise and micronutrient supplements boost children’s brainpower and school performance? Not always! A new study by Ifakara Health Institute, Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute (Swiss TPH), and the University of Basel shows that improving learning outcomes takes more than just good nutrition and physical activity. 🏫 Over two years in four Tanzanian primary schools, children who received micronutrient supplements—alone or combined with physical activity—improved their Kiswahili scores. But those who only exercised didn’t show the same academic gains. 🔍 Published in the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health, the study highlights that improving children’s learning requires multi-level strategies addressing both health and education. 🍎 📖 👩🏽🔬 Led by Ifakara’s Elihaika Minja, this collaborative research offers new insights on how schools can better support children’s development. 📈🏃🏽♂️ 🔗 Learn more, here: https://lnkd.in/emngWwGX >> #IFAKARAnews #ChildHealth #PublicHealth #NutritionAndExercise
