How have the EEA and Norway Grants improved #health across Europe? Our #evaluation team at Tetra Tech International Development Europe was commissioned by the Financial Mechanism Office to find out. Covering the 2014–2021 funding period, the evaluation explored how health-related programmes supported by the EEA and Norway Grants strengthened public health systems, reduced inequalities, and improved access to services across 13 beneficiary countries. Through surveys, interviews, and focus groups, our assessment went beyond the results achieved to evaluate the sustainability of those impacts and the lessons to guide future investments. This evaluation provides a roadmap for future cooperation in public health under the EEA and Norway Grants. Delighted to share the publication of this important report on the impact of the EEA and Norway Grants on health across Europe. It was a challenging but immensely rewarding evaluation to be part of. This was my first project since starting at Tetra Tech International Development, and I’m thankful for the trust placed in me to contribute to such meaningful work. A special thanks to Mariana Dates as Project Manager for her leadership, and to Aleksander Fuksiewicz and Ana Craciun for their guidance throughout the process. The evaluation covers the 2014–2021 funding period and explores how health-related programmes have strengthened public health systems, reduced inequalities, and improved access to services across 13 beneficiary countries. Through surveys, interviews, and focus groups, we assessed not only the results but also the sustainability of the impacts and lessons for future investments. Topics: 🔹Trust-based partnerships instead of purely transactional financing 🔹Challenges such as fragmented data and short-term funding logic 🔹Strategies for sustainable cooperation between public and private actors 📥 Download: https://okt.to/twhPKq? utm_source=oktopost&utm_medium=linkedin&utm_campaign=CEU-FY2425-ALL-CT-LinkedIn+Post&utm_content=paper-78th+World+Health+Assembly Find out more from Jan Philipp Roos from GHA - German Health Alliance partner organization International SOS. #GlobalHealth #HealthSystems #PrivateSectorEngagement #PublicPrivatePartnerships #WHA78 #dutyofcare

The European Observatory on Health Systems and Policies has released a special edition of Eurohealth as a pre-reader for the 2025 European Health Forum Gastein (EHFG): “Rethinking Solidarity in Health: Healing Europe’s Fractured Social Contract.” Featuring a foreword by Sandra Gallina (DG SANTE) and a guest editorial by Dorli Kahr-Gottlieb (EHFG) and Ewout van Ginneken (The Observatory), this issue invites us to explore how health can restore trust, reinforce solidarity, and shape a renewed social contract for Europe. Key contributions examine: 🔹 Solidarity and innovation as drivers of transformation. 🔹 Investing in women’s health research to close the gender gap. 🔹 The role of social, green, and arts prescriptions in community well-being. 🔹 Lessons from mental health responses in crisis situations. 🔹 Reimagining end-of-life care as a matter of dignity and equity. 🔹 Strengthening primary healthcare and transforming hospitals for resilience. 🔹 Ensuring transparency in public contributions to drug development. This edition challenges us not only to repair systems, but to reimagine what is possible—placing human dignity, trust, and collective responsibility at the centre of European health policy. #Eurohealth #EHFG2025 #HealthPolicy #PublicHealth #HealthSystems #SolidarityInHealth

📣 Strengthening Knowledge Sharing Across Europe We’re proud to share that #ElkeHackländer and #YvetteShajanianZarneh from the Federal Institute of Public Health Germany / BIÖG actively contributed to the Symposium Towards Greater Impact; Strengthening Visibility and Alignment of European Best Practice Portals. They took on key roles in moderating and presenting, helping to shape the conversation around future-proof public health collaboration in Europe. The session focused on: ✅ The Finnish Best Practice Portal as a national milestone ✅ Integrating best practice portals into national funding systems – with lessons from the Netherlands and France ✅ The vision for a European “portal of portals” under the JA PreventNCD, aiming to improve interoperability and impact ✅ The Polish EU Presidency in first half of 2025, supporting cross-national learning in health promotion This symposium was made possible through collaboration within the Thematic Working Group (TWIG) hosted by #EuroHealthNet – a unique partnership fostering health equity, innovation, and policy alignment across Europe. Since 2019, the TWIG has delivered valuable input through workshops, conference contributions, and peer-reviewed publications. 👉 A great example of how coordinated European efforts can drive meaningful progress in public health. #PublicHealth #HealthPromotion #EuroHealthNet #JApreventNCD #BestPractice #KnowledgeSharing #HealthEquity #BIÖG #Germany #EUHealthPolicy #Collaboration

🤝 Connection = Cooperation 🙌 Yesterday, our very own Phil Boyer attended the #CanadianHealthDataPlatformSummit in Ottawa — hosted by ARCHIMEDES and the University of Ottawa Heart Institute. The sessions yielded some key messages, including the importance of open science, returning results of studies to patients is a good way of building trust, success is found through partnerships, and the primary barrier to sharing health data are the institutions. Phil had the chance to connect with Eric Sutherland, Senior Health Economist at the OECD - OCDE, who led an insightful session on #healthdata sharing — both within Canada and internationally. Key takeaways from this session: 🙅 Not using health data harms public trust. 🧾 Legislation isn’t the barrier; it's operationalization and accountability. 🔌 Seek compatibility across borders, not harmonization. The summit highlighted countless opportunities to unite behind health data sharing — now it’s time to turn that cooperation into action. We look forward to continuing the conversation on October 21st in Edmonton at ⭐ Health Data Connect ⭐ , a one-day summit co-hosted by the University Hospital Foundation, INOVAIT Canada, and Alberta Innovates on how Canada can responsibly and effectively harness its wealth of health data assets to drive research, innovation, and better patient care. 🎟️ Join us and register today: https://lnkd.in/gnf5kxyN

"Greece has the opportunity to become a Center of Excellence in the utilization of Real-World Evidence (RWE). As part of the digital transformation being implemented in the Health sector, the development of a National Strategy for RWE can contribute to attracting more investments in clinical trials, technological infrastructure, scientific and consulting services, as well as to the international recognition of the country’s scientific personnel - with multiplier benefits for Patients, the National Health System, and the Greek economy," emphasized Antonis Karokis, Director of External Affairs at MSD Greece, during the discussion titled "Smart Systems, Smart Policy: Leveraging Digital Systems for Better Healthcare Decisions", held during the 24th HealthWorld Conference (September 29–30, 2025), organized by the American-Hellenic Chamber of Commerce in Athens. #MSDGreece #RWE #HealthWorld2025 #AmChamGR

By documenting our approach in detail, we aim to enhance transparency and replicability, providing a foundation for easier comparison and contrast with similar assessments conducted by other groups. While this study focuses on health, the methodology and findings may also inform evidence-support systems in other sectors, such as climate and education.
