𝟵𝟰% 📉 That’s how much the number of first-time residence permits in Finland’s social and healthcare sector dropped in 2025. Silkkitie 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵𝗹𝘆 𝟳𝟬% 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗲𝘄 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝘀𝘀𝘂𝗲𝗱. When I posted about this earlier, many found it hard to believe that almost no new international healthcare workers have entered Finland this year. At first glance, it might seem that Finland has simply lost its appeal to foreign healthcare professionals. But that’s not the full story or what is truly at play here. I’ve voiced my concerns about the new 3/6-month rule previously. It’s harmful to Finland’s competitiveness in attracting international talent. BUT! ⚠️we also need to be careful not to draw the wrong conclusions.⚠️ 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲. We receive 𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘀 of applications from top-level professionals who want to work in Finland even with knowledge of the new rule. 𝗦𝗼, 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗱? The real issue is much more structural: A 𝘀𝘂𝗱𝗱𝗲𝗻 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗽𝘀𝗲 in the healthcare job market as a result of 1. 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼 𝗰𝘂𝘁𝘀 🧑⚕️🧑⚕️🧑⚕️🧑⚕️--> 🧑⚕️🧑⚕️🧑⚕️ 2. 𝗦𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 to wellbeing services counties 💰 3. A ripple effect across private sector healthcare due to outsourcing and cooperation agreements with the public sector 🔁 𝗢𝗻𝗹𝘆 𝗮 𝗳𝗲𝘄 𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗼𝘆𝗲𝗿𝘀 have kept international recruitment channels open albeit at reduced capacity. 🥇 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗴𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗮 𝗺𝗮𝗷𝗼𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗮𝗱𝘃𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲 when demand inevitably rises again. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁’𝘀 𝗰𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗶𝘀 𝗸𝗲𝗲𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗿𝘂𝗶𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗵𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗻. Because when the need returns, not if, we must be able to respond to that demand without starting from scratch. Good morning ☀️ ☕ 🇲🇪 to everyone! Except the people who think a fixed work location equates to productivity. They don't appreciate that WFA and varying locations for work, boosts productivity and creativity in MILLIONS of people* 🇲🇪 Written in a cafe in Podogrica, Montenegro, cos work is not a place ;-) In recent days I have worked focused and async in different locations in Spain, Serbia and now Montenegro, for me and millions of location-changing remote workers and nomads, location can be the key to fostering energy, focus, entrepreneurship and creativity. In recent days, I have worked on 2 projects successfully, full of inspiration and motivation to get the work done and then get out and explore! * 92 million Nomads by 2030, reports estimate the global nomad population - now at 50 million, will reach 92 million! For reference, Vietnam has 95 million people. Source: Scientific Center of Innovative Research, link in the comments ⤵️ #RoRemote #DigitalNomads #WorkIsNotAPlace

Is Hungary the Next Digital Nomad Hotspot in Europe? As Europe’s tech scene continues to diversify beyond its traditional Western hubs, Hungary — and especially Budapest — is emerging as one of the most promising destinations for digital nomads and remote professionals. 💻 A Growing Tech Ecosystem Budapest has quickly gained a reputation as a dynamic tech and startup hub, attracting entrepreneurs, developers, and creatives from across Europe. Co-working spaces, innovation centers, and tech events are thriving — from Budapest Startup Safari to TechCamp, the city offers constant networking opportunities for professionals in digital industries. 🏛️ Government Support for Remote Workers The Hungarian government has taken proactive steps to attract international talent. In 2022, it introduced the “White Card” — a special visa for digital nomads from outside the EU, allowing them to live and work in Hungary for up to two years. This program targets remote workers employed by foreign companies or self-employed professionals with clients abroad. Combined with Hungary’s EU membership, reliable infrastructure, and growing English-speaking community, the country is positioning itself as a strategic base for global freelancers. 💶 Affordable Lifestyle, European Quality One of Hungary’s strongest advantages is its cost-effectiveness. Compared to Western Europe, living expenses in Budapest can be 40–50% lower — while still offering excellent housing, healthcare, and transport infrastructure. This balance between affordability and high living standards is a key reason digital nomads are choosing Hungary over more saturated markets like Portugal or Spain. 🌍 The Next Chapter for Europe’s Remote Workforce With its mix of culture, connectivity, and competitive costs, Hungary is quietly becoming one of Europe’s best-kept secrets for remote professionals. Whether you’re a software developer, designer, or digital entrepreneur, Budapest offers the energy of a capital city with the comfort of a lower-cost lifestyle. ✈️ Thinking about relocating to Hungary as a digital nomad? Let’s talk — our team can guide you through visa options, accommodation, and everything you need to make your move smooth and stress-free. I’ve noticed a growing trend among Danish companies: more and more roles are being filled remotely by professionals abroad rather than by people already based in Denmark whether Danish citizens or expats. This shift may seem cost-effective in the short term, but it’s starting to create deeper challenges for the local job market. Many skilled professionals living in Denmark with strong expertise, local knowledge, and professional alignment are now finding fewer opportunities, as companies prioritise lower-cost remote alternatives. Beyond the numbers, this change affects collaboration, communication, and the shared professional culture that has always been a strength in the Danish workplace. It risks fragmenting teams and weakening the very foundation that made Danish companies successful: trust, cohesion, and local presence. Denmark is full of talented professionals both citizens and expats who are capable, motivated, and eager to contribute. Perhaps it’s time for companies to look closer to home and recognise the long-term value of investing in the people already here. It could be a constructive idea to draw the authorities’ attention to this issue. By initiating a discussion at policy level, Denmark can ensure that remote international hiring remains balanced supporting innovation and global collaboration while protecting the sustainability of local professional opportunities and the national tax base. What’s your view? Do you also see this shift in your industry? #Denmark #Workforce #RemoteHiring #ProfessionalTalent #DanishCompanies #CareerDevelopment #Leadership
