A major shift in how obesity is understood and treated. The new EASO framework moves beyond “weight loss” to managing obesity as a chronic, multi-system disease, recognising its mechanical, metabolic and inflammatory complications. Evidence places tirzepatide and semaglutide as first-line options, but the real innovation lies in personalised, evidence-based care guided by complications and clinical outcomes. The next challenge: integrating this science into accessible, equitable, and sustainable obesity services across health systems. #ObesityCare #EvidenceBasedMedicine #PublicHealth #ClinicalGovernance

🫀 Your heart does more than beat—it connects everything. With this week's #WorldHeartDay in mind, we’re shining a light on the most vital muscle in your body and the urgent need to protect it. 💙 But it’s not just about the heart. Obesity, type 2 diabetes, liver and kidney disease—they’re all part of the cardiovascular-kidney-metabolic (CKM) syndrome. And it’s costing lives. That’s why we’re highlighting the global burden of poor CKM health, which affects millions and increases cardiovascular risk across nearly every organ system.¹ 🔍 Seeing the full picture means earlier detection, better care, and better outcomes. Our team at Novo Nordisk is committed to tackling this challenge through innovation. 🩺 #WorldHeartDay #CardiovascularHealth #CKMSyndrome #HealthInnovation #NovoNordisk ¹ Ndumele CE et al. Early detection and prevention are key to addressing the global burden of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) and mental health. NCDs, such as cardiovascular, renal, and metabolic diseases, are deeply interconnected and often amplify one another, impacting over 1 billion people worldwide. Today, Shashank Deshpande advocated at #UNGA80 for integrated care models, early screening, and stronger primary healthcare systems. By investing in health early, we can improve outcomes for patients and create significant value for our societies.

CARE-IN-HEALTH: Advancing Cardiovascular Health Through Inflammation Resolution. Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the leading cause of death and a major cause of morbidity in Europe, affecting over 49 million people and costing the EU economy €200 billion annually, despite major advances in prevention and treatment. The CARE-IN-HEALTH project (CArdiovascular REsolution of INflammation to promote HEALTH), funded by the EU Horizon Europe Programme European Commission, addresses a critical unmet medical need: chronic inflammation, a key driver in the transition from health to CVD. The dysregulated chronic inflammation behind atherosclerotic CVD (ASCVD) and its cardiovascular consequences are largely caused by a failure in the resolution of inflammation. Elevated levels of blood lipids (hyperlipidemia) are well documented risk factors for ASCVD. 🔬 Our focus: - Explore how appropriate lipid intake can promote the resolution of inflammation and support global prevention strategies. - Develop and test practical tools in real-life settings for healthcare systems and citizens to monitor inflammation and stay healthy. 🌍 Project Highlights: - 10 partners across 6 European countries - Coordination by Inserm under the direction of Professor Magnus Bäck CARE-IN-HEALTH is paving the way toward innovative, prevention-focused strategies for cardiovascular health and healthier ageing. 🔗 Learn more: care-in-health.eu #HorizonEurope #CAREINHEALTH #CardiovascularHealth #Inflammation #Resolution #PrecisionMedicine #HealthyAgeing #ResearchInnovation #Lipidomics #EUProjects
