✴️ Ireland is currently trending over energy demand targets under the EU Energy Efficiency Directive ✴️   Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI)'s National Energy Projections via Emma Lynch and team, make it clear that anticipated demand from data centres, new transport, new buildings and macroeconomic growth to 2030 and beyond will grow this problem.    ❇️ Savings from more efficient buildings, heat pumps replacing fossil heating and EVs replacing ICE vehicles are significant parts of the solution but alone are not enough to counteract the additional demand, and cause the net demand reductions that are essential for target achievement ❇️   Net reductions in energy demand would .. 💡 Decrease systems costs due to reduced the requirements for system enhancement and growth 💡 Reduce the levels of renewables needed (less turbines and solar panels) to reach binding renewables targets - and so reduce the associated compliance costs payable (money wasted)  💡 Reduce price pressure on consumers - as we all collectively cover the cost of larger energy systems and non-compliance fines 💡 Increase energy security - managing our energy demand means as we increase our renewable indigenous supply we become less reliant on imported energy, but only if the renewable energy share isn't outpaced by growing demand.
