As we marked World Mental Health Day last week, I was reminded of a saying I come back to often: You can’t pour from an empty cup. At Johnson & Johnson, this knowledge drives our commitment to championing mental health—for our employees, for the communities we serve, and for the health workers who devote their lives to caring for others. For episode six of The Red Couch on the Road, I sat down with J. Corey Feist, JD, MBA, CEO of the Dr. Lorna Breen Heroes' Foundation, for an important discussion about the stigma and barriers many health workers face when it comes to caring for their own mental health. To address these challenges, the Dr. Lorna Breen Heroes’ Foundation launched the ALL IN: Well-Being First for Healthcare campaign five years ago—a coalition J&J was proud to join. Our shared advocacy efforts supported the passage of the landmark Dr. Lorna Breen Healthcare Provider Protection Act in 2021, which is now helping health workers access essential mental health care and reduce burnout across the U.S. Thank you, Corey, for your advocacy and commitment to caring for our caregivers. I took vaccine as a means of SUPPORTING my LOVELY HARD WORKING 30 year veteran (teacher) wife (she had various harsh side effects as well that thankfully have subsided) who was MANDATED by President Joseph Robinette Biden Jr., Governor J. B. Pritzker, Mayor Lori Lightfoot being a CPS Teacher by City (Chicago)/ (Illinois) State with THREATS of teaching license to be revoked till compliance was met!
