Female Science Talents, a new platform for African women in science: “participants take the opportunity to develop joint research projects and apply for funding, which is another great and practical example. What I think is also unique about the programme is the fact that it is interdisciplinary and diverse.” https://lnkd.in/eeQQsqWg

Are Men’s Ideas Valued More Than Women’s? INSEAD Associate Professor Michaël Bikard, PhD student Ronak Mogra, and London Business School Professor Isabel Fernandez-Mateo explore this very question. Their research on gender differences in science, technology development, and innovation reveals that scientific papers authored by women are cited less often in patents — even when their discoveries are virtually identical to those of men. 📌📌📌THE FINAL PART OF THE REPROGRAMMING INCLUSION: Over the past few weeks I have shared segments of my research paper exploring the importance of inclusion within the technological industry. As this series comes to an end I’m excited to share that my honours research paper titled “A Conceptual Framework for an Inclusive Support System: The Underrepresentation of Women in ICT” has been published in the 5th Conference Society 5.0. This paper explores the growth of the ICT industry and the decline in the representation of women within the field. This issue has become a global crisis, especially in the context of achieving a Society 5.0 community. The underrepresentation of women in ICT is driven by various factors that women face both in educational settings; the society and at the workplace. By applying the "Individual Differences Theory of Gender and Information Technology" framework, this paper presents a systematic literature review (SLR) of 29 studies, aimed at identifying and discussing the barriers contributing to the underrepresentation of women in ICT. Additionally, it explores ways in which women can take responsibility for reshaping the field to foster greater gender inclusion. This paper is a reminder to take up space and to use my voice to create room for women that are to follow. 📣 Calling evaluators and researchers working in women’s rights and women-led organizations! We invite you to co-design a toolkit for feminist evaluation in crisis settings. This is part of a project called “From Insights to Action: Advancing Feminist Evaluation Innovations in Crisis Contexts," funded by the Feminist Innovation in Monitoring and Evaluation (FIME) Small Awards Program and led by FIME awardee Rai Sengupta. 💡 In our featured blog post, Rai introduces the #FeministEvaluation toolkit, which was developed through a synthesis of feminist #evaluation innovations from 16 recent evaluations across diverse crisis contexts. Next step? Consultation workshops will be held this October to validate the synthesis findings and co-create the next iteration of the toolkit. If you want to participate, send your expression of interest by October 11. 🔎 For more details, read Rai's blog post: https://lnkd.in/ekyx-w92

Inspired to see how #women #researchers in #Cambodia are coming together to share ideas and support one another. Last week, the #SheThinks network ( a growing community of women researchers, policymakers, and professionals in Cambodia who want to make research more inclusive and impactful) held its Open House. The Network continues to grow with 80+ members now with encouragement from allies, including Meloney Lindberg, Netra Eng who have been strong advocates for women’s leadership in Cambodia’s knowledge sector. Ponlok Chomnes (a program funded by the Australian Government and implemented by the Asia Foundation) supports the network by helping more women take part in shaping Cambodia’s research sector. Today, 34% of research outputs under Ponlok Chomnes are first authored by women, up from just 19% in 2022. The SheThinks network Open House was also featured in Khmer Times and the Phnom Penh Post 👇 https://lnkd.in/gaaGQVRW https://lnkd.in/gGrMypt4
