Who We Are – Kenya National Academy of Sciences (KNAS) For over four decades, the Kenya National Academy of Sciences (KNAS) has remained at the forefront of promoting scholarly and scientific knowledge for the public good. Established in 1983 under the National Council for Science and Technology (now NACOSTI), KNAS is a non-political, nonprofit institution guided by the Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) Bill. We operate under a robust leadership structure comprising an executive committee and a governing council, with the President of Kenya serving as our patron. Our 261 members distinguished scholars and researchers elected by their peers contribute credible, expert knowledge in advancing science, policy and innovation in Kenya and beyond. From tackling issues such as DDT, GMOs and tobacco, to shaping conversations in international scientific forums, KNAS is proud to serve as Kenya’s scientific voice on the global stage. Follow us to stay updated on our work, events and opportunities to engage with the scientific community.
