A Major Milestone for Saudi Re! I’m proud to share that Saudi Re has raised its capital from SAR 1.158 billion to SAR 1.698 billion (USD 452.8 million) through the capitalization of SAR 539.8 million from retained earnings — a move that now makes Saudi Re the top-capitalized listed company in the Saudi insurance sector and the reinsurance sector across the Middle East. The 46.6% capital increase was approved by the Extraordinary General Assembly, with bonus shares distributed to shareholders at a ratio of 4 for every 9 existing shares, and an additional 2.5 million shares allocated to the long-term employee incentive program. This is Saudi Re’s second capital increase in 2025, following the earlier 30% increase in January alongside the Public Investment Fund (PIF) joining as a strategic partner — a clear reflection of our solid momentum and growing scale, with written premiums exceeding SAR 2.3 billion by the end of 2024. The announcement also comes after Moody’s upgraded our credit rating to “A2” (Stable), reinforcing confidence in our financial strength and business profile. IOPC Funds’ Director, Gaute Sivertsen, HNS Project Manager, Ms Gillian Grant, and Policy Officer, Yuji Okugawa, today held a productive meeting with the leadership of the Japan Shipowners’ Association (JSA).   Discussions focused on marine insurance, the international liability and compensation regime for #oilpollution damage, and the 2010 Convention on the Carriage of Hazardous and Noxious Substances (HNS) by sea.   The Director expressed appreciation for the JSA’s longstanding cooperation with the IOPC Funds and provided updates on recent incidents and related priorities. The JSA is a nationwide maritime organisation of Japanese owners, charterers and operators of ships with a capacity of 100 gross tonnes and over. #Partnership #MarineEnvironment
