[4DGS STREAMING] Can you stream volumetric video feed (3DGS) onto mobile devices in real-time? The LiveGS project, which I have seen at SIGGRAPH 2025 Emerging Technologies proves it is possible. LiveGS benchmarks: ✅ Over 30 FPS on iPhone 15 ✅ Bitrates under 20 Mbps ✅ Latency under one second (see the video) This free-viewpoint video (FVV) live-broadcasting system solves the bottleneck challenges in streaming 3D Gaussian Splatting content to mobile devices. For creators, educators, and professionals working with spatial media, research like this opens new possibilities for live volumetric broadcasts accessible on everyday devices in not so distant future. I got 3 important questions: 1- How many camera are used for the capture? 2- What type of cameras are used for the capture? 3- How feasible would be to stream to a VR headset?
Josef Heks, this might interest you!
that’s wild. real-time volumetric streaming on an iPhone basically kills the “too heavy for mobile” excuse. wonder how they’re compressing splats without murdering depth fidelity.
Love that
