European University Alliances: What's in it for Joint Academic Programmes? The European University Alliances are stable, well-resourced and well-integrated academic ecosystems. They are established to transform the European Higher Education Area, and not just deliver individual joint programmes but specifically in relation to joint programmes, the Alliances offer very specific strengths that benefit learners, staff and other stakeholders. 1. The alliances designed and funded based on long-term and sustainable cooperation strategies, which feature shared governance, aligned objectives and transparent models for the co-development of curricula, mobilities and recognition of student achievements. 2. Joint programmes and associated awards offered by European University Alliances involve three or more university partners so that students benefit from comprehensive mobility options, broad programme options and wide access to diverse campuses, specialisms and cultural experiences. 3. Alliance partners work hard to ensure marmonisation and transparency of quality assurance systems to facilitate mutual recognition of ECTS credits earned across the alliance from, for example, semester mobilities, joint degrees and micro-credentials. 4. The large University Alliances and associated legal entities such as the INGENIUM EGTC (European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation - a legal entity under EU law which allows public bodies from member states to work together on cross-border projects) offer the advantage of consistent and high quality student and staff support infrastructure across the alliance, providing, for example, joint services for administration of mobilities, implementation of language learning policy, digital campus development and a coordinated comprehensive staff development portfolio. 5. Finally, European University Alliances are emerging as, or have ambitions to become, pan-European, safe, consistent and attractive destinations for international learners, attracting diverse, talented ambitious learners from around the globe for the benefit - and intellectual advancement - of all concerned. The European family of universities is pleased to see that negotiations on the United Kingdom’s association to Erasmus+ are advancing. The European University Association and Universities UK have published a joint statement affirming their strong support for the UK’s return to the Erasmus+ programme, subject to mutually agreed financial terms. However, time is of the essence. EUA and UUK’s statement urges negotiators to be ambitious in agreeing to long-term association and to do so swiftly, while calling for clarity and timely communication so that all stakeholders can successfully plan and deliver Erasmus+ partnerships and programmes at the earliest opportunity. Welcoming the joint statement, Jamie Arrowsmith, Director of Universities UK International, noted that: "The Erasmus+ programme supports mobility and exchange that enrich the lives of students and strengthens ties between universities across Europe and beyond. We urge all parties to move swiftly to reach a mutually agreeable deal on the cost of association so that universities, students and staff can plan with confidence and realise these benefits in future. This would be in the best interests of the UK and our partners across Europe." Thomas Ekman Jørgensen, Director of Policy Coordination and Foresight at EUA, added that: “Erasmus+ is unique in its ability to connect people and institutions across borders. Full association of the UK will give universities across the continent greater scope to grow together, and it will open new opportunities for learners to broaden their skills, as well as their cultural and intellectual horizons.” Read the joint statement below ⬇️ ℹ️ https://bit.ly/48Dl5uj Erasmus Plus

𝗨𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗺 | 𝗗𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 & 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝘁 𝗠𝗮𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗵𝘁 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 The international classroom is one of Maastricht University’s defining features. But does diversity really help learning for all students? Education researchers Carla Haelermans and Patrick Bijsmans combined large-scale data analysis with classroom observations and interviews to answer that question. Their findings: 🌍 International diversity benefits all students, including Dutch students ✨ A balance of backgrounds matters for group dynamics 📚 Inclusive teaching strategies make the difference This study shows how interdisciplinary collaboration makes research richer and more impactful – and why education research is essential for the continuous improvement of Problem-Based Learning (PBL). 👉 Watch more episodes in this EDLAB series on education research and teaching innovation at Maastricht University here: https://lnkd.in/eDZXxTuF Video production: CONCREET.media #education #research #international #classroom #collaboration

📢 We are delighted to announce that CIFE has concluded a new partnership agreement with the Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia UNED, Spain’s largest public university and, in terms of the number of students, the largest university campus in Europe. Both institutions signed a General Cooperation Protocol this summer, based on their common interest to promote an exchange of scientific and cultural knowledge, and their desire to create and exploit synergies in academic work. 📖 Concretely, CIFE and the Brussels campus of UNED plan to organise common activities such as expert briefings, workshops and roundtable discussions. We equally look forward to common teaching activities and new research impetus for both institutions. 🇧🇪 With UNED as our partner, the new Brussels trimester of the Applied European Policy and Governance Studies (EUGOV) Master will contribute to the truly applied nature of the programme. The partnership brings benefit for all involved – through more academic events, networking opportunities between students and experts, and an exchange of ideas on issues relating to higher education. In the long term, the framework agreement also offers opportunities for teacher and student exchanges and for the development of joint research projects. 🌸 We would like to thank María Casado García-Hirschfeld, Director of the UNED Centre in Brussels, for her commitment to establishing this partnership. We look forward to working together and wish this partnership every success! #UNED #CIFEonthemove #CIFExperience #EUGovernance #EUstudies
