Where Vision Meets Humanity—Reflections from the “Leading the Future” Conference Some moments don’t just inform you — they reshape how you see leadership. Yesterday’s Leading the Future Conference was one of those moments. When Dr Philip Steenkamp spoke about vision and values being the compass of every great organisation, it reignited something that has anchored my own leadership journey since I first discovered the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS) by Gino Wickman—that without a clear vision, even brilliance loses direction, and without shared values, even success feels hollow. Then Dr Alastair Summerlee offered a truth that cut through the noise: “Universities must stop producing employable graduates only and start developing humans.” That single idea captures what the future truly demands—empathy, adaptability, and depth. It also mirrors what I’ve experienced through my Higher Diploma at Westford University College and Advanced Entry at Cardiff School of Management - Research & Innovation (CMU)—where leadership is not about titles or techniques, but about cultivating thinking, purpose, and authenticity. And when Amit Gupta from e& enterprises presented data showing how unprepared most organizations (and their people) are for AI transformation, it wasn’t just insightful—it was sobering. The challenge isn’t technology itself, but our readiness to grow alongside it. Neetu Choudhary, delivered one of the most energising sessions of the day—an inspiring presentation on neuroscience and leadership. Her insights into how the brain drives behaviour and decision-making were a vivid reminder that true leadership begins with self-awareness. I left with this realisation: Leadership in the age of AI will not belong to those who know the most — but to those who learn relentlessly, care deeply, and lead with purpose. Because intelligence may define our tools — but humanity will define our future.
