Lynn Chandler of R1 RCM and Peter Cornbrooks of Google both shared incredible insights at PRGXchange’s procurement panel - Procurement: From Cost Saving To Profit Making Here’s a few nuggets that resonated: Peter: “We’re trying to standardize and optimize while not slowing down innovation and speed to market. The future is pretty cool.” Lynn: “People try to avoid suppliers. I think that’s a mistake. I always meet with suppliers; it’s important to understand the suppliers point of view. You have to build the relationship to build trust so they can offer solutions that are good for your business. We push our suppliers to drive innovation.” Peter: “You find how varied contract language and terms are. You start going down one path. As a by-product, you uncover other opportunities to pursue.” Lynn: “I want to be a strategic partner to my suppliers. That’s what happens when you have a good relationship with them and open conversations.” Jim Albrecht and Scott Brown of PRGX Global Inc. moderated the session. So good!

Procurement teams do not operate in isolation, they navigate ecosystems. From sourcing solutions across networks to managing supplier relationships that span geographies and capabilities, procurement is a strategic connector. To deliver real impact, we must ask ourselves if our procurement models are designed to thrive in a networked world? 🔹Ecosystem thinking 🔹Supplier collaboration 🔹Outcome-driven delivery If this resonates, we would be happy to set up a short exploratory call. ➡️ https://vist.ly/4cfj3 Practical Strategies | Simple & Impactful

Moving beyond process to models that scale with ambition and unlock value. Procurement is not just a function. It is a catalyst aligning people, technology, and ways of working, through delivery models that drive innovation, resilience, and measurable impact. Value creation starts with strategic design. Supplier ecosystems demand agility and clarity. Operating models must evolve with purpose.

Can procurement evolve from being seen as a cost center to a true strategic business partner? Here's what Cyril Pourrat, CPO of BT Group, thinks: That transformation won't happen until procurement focuses only on managing suppliers or categories. The fundamental transformation happens when procurement: - Can actively shape business strategy, not just execute it. - Co-defines strategy with stakeholders across supplier portfolios - Becomes relevant enough that its performance gets discussed at the highest levels. This level of visibility doesn't come solely from cost savings. When executives can't imagine making major business decisions without procurement's input, you've successfully earned that seat at the table. What's your opinion about it? Can procurement become a true strategic business partner? And how? If you're interested in reading more about strategic procurement, we have a detailed article about it: https://lnkd.in/gfqSW_bJ

From Cost Control to Business Growth: The New Face of Procurement” In today’s fast-changing global economy, Procurement is no longer just about negotiating better prices — it’s about driving business growth, innovation, and resilience. In one of my projects, we transformed the Procurement function from a purely operational area into a strategic enabler of growth. By aligning sourcing decisions with long-term business goals, we achieved not only savings but greater agility and innovation across the supply chain. Here’s what made the difference 👇 🔹 1. Cross-functional collaboration – Involving R&D, Finance, and Operations early in the sourcing process. 🔹 2. Supplier co-innovation – Turning suppliers into partners for improvement and product development. 🔹 3. Data-driven decisions – Using analytics to anticipate risk and uncover opportunities. 🔹 4. Sustainability as value – Selecting partners that contribute to long-term brand strength, not just short-term cost. 📈 The result? Procurement became a true growth engine — not by cutting, but by creating value. 💬 How is your organisation transforming its Procurement function from a cost centre to a strategic driver of growth? #Procurement #SupplyChain #Leadership #Innovation #BusinessGrowth #Sustainability #ProcurementExcellence
