Over the past few days, I set out to automate a daily AI news digest using Make and ChatGPT: pulling in emails, cleaning HTML, summarizing content, and sending a perfectly formatted daily newsletter to my inbox every morning. The tools are all there, and they’re powerful. But here’s the truth: AI automation isn’t as “no-code” as it’s often marketed. Especially with ChatGPT walking me through every step, it was a frustrating process at times. It still required logic, persistence, and a developer’s mindset to connect all the moving parts and account for AI hallucinations. AI may write code for you but understanding how systems think and flow is still essential. Turns out, these tools aren’t eliminating technical skill; they’re redefining what technical skill is.

The tone, the phrasing, the overly polished buzzwords, it’s textbook AI. And honestly? It’s frustrating. Using AI isn’t the problem. But when you use it as the entire script, with zero personalization, no connection to your real experiences, and not a hint of who you actually are, it completely defeats the purpose.
