New Zealand has a way of inspiring you. Speaking at the Cloud & Data Center Conference here was more than a keynote; it was a glimpse into the future we’re building together. A huge thank you to the w.media Simon Fletcher, Simon Dux, Gabriella Carling,Sangeetha Silvaratnam and everyone behind the scenes for creating an event that was as seamless as it was energizing. During my session, I explored the “FIFTH COMPUTE”, the next era of technology that is transforming how we live, work, and interact. The fifth compute is everywhere. It anticipates our needs, responds to natural language, and is embedded in our environment. Voice, context-aware devices, and local + cloud inference make computing invisible yet indispensable. On the frontier of distributed systems, experimental neuromorphic or brain-inspired compute is pushing boundaries machines that process information more like human brains than traditional silicon. But technology alone isn’t the story. The future we’re building touches every dimension of society: Identity & Data Ownership: We’re entering a world where individuals hold their own data, not platforms. Trust is becoming a feature, not an afterthought. Connectivity & Infrastructure: Connectivity is no longer a location advantage; it’s the baseline. Global access changes who gets to participate in the economy. Quantum & Security: Quantum computing won’t replace classical systems; it amplifies them. The data we store today must remain secure tomorrow. Robotics & Physical Automation: Automation is leaving the screen and entering the physical world. Robots aren’t replacing jobs—they’re replacing tasks, letting humans focus on what’s uniquely human. Sustainable Computing : Efficiency is innovation. The next generation of infrastructure will be judged not only by performance but by responsibility. At its core, this isn’t just about technology. “We are not just digitizing the past. We are designing new systems for how value flows, how work happens, and how people interact. The real opportunity is not to ask what these technologies can do, but what we want to do with them.” And now, after an inspiring conference, I get to spend some quality time with my daughter; who, after attending a few sessions, is now a little more curious about the tech world herself. There’s something special about sharing these moments and imagining the future together. New Zealand is more than a market: it’s a mindset. The energy, curiosity, and ambition here are contagious. The opportunities are endless, and the future isn’t coming. We’re making it. #DataCenter #FifthCompute #TechnologyLeadership #FutureOfTech #TheFutureIsNow
