NextGeo and IDS Ingegneria Dei Sistemi partner on USVs for offshore operations

🌊🤖 NextGeo and IDS Ingegneria Dei Sistemi - part of the FINCANTIERI Group - join forces to drive offshore innovation! We are proud to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with IDS, a Fincantieri Group company, to collaborate on the development and operational deployment of uncrewed surface vehicles (USVs). Together with IDS, we will focus on the operational use of USVs. Specifically, through the SAND-16 system, we will carry out pilot projects, technical trials, and real-world operational missions. Meanwhile, with SAND-10 - a new USV currently being developed by IDS and Fincantieri - we will conduct a feasibility study to assess its suitability for marine inspections, environmental monitoring, and other offshore survey applications. The agreement also foresees the potential joint design of a new USV, tailor-made and equipped with customised features to meet our specific operational needs. 🗣️ Our CEO, Giovanni Ranieri, commented: “Innovation, efficiency, and sustainability are at the core of this partnership. USVs represent the future of offshore operations, and IDS is the ideal partner to shape that future together.” For more details 🔗https://lnkd.in/d9YPd7QE ... and 🎧 stay tuned to discover the next developments in this strategic technological collaboration! #Fincantieri #FutureOnBoard #Innovation #NextGeo Matteo Marchiori

Strong move from Next Geosolutions, great to see them stepping into the USV domain. The shift toward uncrewed and hybrid operations is clearly accelerating; Reach, Next Geo, and others are all building real capability here. It’s not just about automation, it’s about rethinking how survey, inspection, and intervention are executed end-to-end. The future offshore won’t be unmanned, but it will be operated very differently.
