These barriers stem from cultural stereotypes, low confidence, time pressures, cost and a lack of inclusive spaces. As we honor #IndigenousPeoplesDay, we must also confront the ongoing inequities that Native women face in the workplace. Native women earn just 52.4 cents for every dollar paid to White men, and are projected not to reach pay equity until 2202. Centuries of discrimination have created this gap. It’s well past time for change. Learn more from IWPR: https://lnkd.in/eEZPx4kV

When 25% goes missing, the message changes. J. Walter Thompson’s Female Tribes campaign takes a bold stand on International Women’s Day, shining a light on the persistent 25% gender pay gap. By literally removing 25% of the words in their print ads, the campaign mirrors how women’s contributions are undervalued in society and at work. Clever, provocative, and impossible to ignore, the campaign sparks debate and reminds us: the cost of underpaying women isn’t just financial… It’s cultural.

“Second shift” was coined by sociologist Arlie Hochschild in her 1989 book “The Second Shift: Working Parents and the Revolution at Home.” Along with her research associates, Hochschild examined dual-income households and found that, despite both partners working full-time jobs, women continued to shoulder the majority of household and child care responsibilities. This imbalance revealed the persistent gender inequality in the division of labor at home, even as women increasingly entered the workforce. #FeministVocabWord
