Ternan Energy has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Njord Subsea – bringing together marine geoscience and offshore transmission expertise under one integrated offering. This partnership addresses a real challenge in offshore energy: today's projects are pushing into deeper waters and more complex geological environments, yet when geotechnical characterisation and cable engineering are handled in isolation, the critical relationship between seabed conditions and cable system performance - which often determines project success. Understanding how cables will interact with specific soil types, bathymetry and geohazards isn't just a coordination exercise between disciplines; it requires genuine technical integration from the start.. What makes this different: We're combining Ternan's expertise in understanding the seabed and what lies beneath it (geology, geotechnics, foundation engineering) with Njord's capabilities in what connects to shore (transmission infrastructure, cable systems, power export). These disciplines aren't separate – cable burial requires detailed soil understanding, foundation design must consider cable protection, route optimisation depends on geohazard mapping. Why independence matters: Both Ternan and Njord are completely independent consultancies. No parent companies, no equipment suppliers, no commercial conflicts.
