I came across a viral MIT study claiming that people using ChatGPT showed 47% less brain activity than those who wrote on their own. Sounds scary, right? I break ChatGPT at least once a month But I've set a new record FOUR TIMES this week. Why do I try to make ChatGPT do hard things When I already know it will fail? Since it keeps failing At what I deem easy. Before you call me an AI doomer Please understand I will continue to advocate For all AI agents and AI resources But I will always ALWAYS Speak truthfully about my experiences And the crazy ones I read about. Artificial Intelligence is definitely A misnomer, since much of the output Is still human driven... I am part machine (at least in my professional life). Here's what it's costing me: – Whenever I hit a wall and sometimes before I do, I defer to ChatGPT. I’m essentially ridding myself of the chore of Type 2 thinking. Brief, possibly erroneous explainer (this is from a friend’s explanation years ago Aurimas Pabrinkis), but from what I understood, Type 1 and Type 2 thinking goes something like this. Type 1️⃣: immediate, epiphany-like, instant gratification-akin thought processes. Type 2️⃣: the type that requires an effort. Humans apparently avoid Type 2 wherever possible.  → AI makes it nearly always possible. Which raises the questions: do we need Type 2? Is it good for us? One of my excuses for using AI so much: "I mostly work alone and ChatGPT is a stand-in for having a real person to bounce ideas off of." That’s not entirely true, though. The AI “gets” me. I meet less friction with it than with people and feel like it’s accelerating my chosen trajectory. It never challenges my ideas, only empowers them. In some ways, I feel superhuman with it and sometimes wonder how I got anything done before it. Can you see the hidden cost?   >Type 2 thinking muscle degeneration, at the very least.  >Something a little more ethereal that is leaning on this yes-man of a supercomputer so much.
