There was an article in PRWeek UK a couple of weeks ago about how many PR leaders went to private school. (TL;DR – a lot.) Sarah Waddington CBE CDir ChartPR and Stephen Waddington set up Socially Mobile a couple of years back with a simple goal – to diversify the leadership demographic of the public relations industry. It's a brilliant initiative, and one that's clearly as important as ever. Applications for the next cohort are open – deadline 4 December. If you’ve been working in PR for a couple of years and want to build your management skills – of have someone in your organisation who fits that description – I strongly recommend you take a look at the course. We've had folks go through it at Hard Numbers 📈 and they all speak extremely highly of it. The not-for-profit programme offers fully funded places for people from lower socio-economic backgrounds and under-represented groups, including minority ethnic practitioners, the LGBTQ+ community, women returners and those with disabilities. It’s a ten-week online course designed to help you step up – whether that means aiming for a promotion, coming back after a break, moving into a new role, or even starting a business. Shout out to some of the excellent teachers – ✌️John Brown, Karan Chadda, Alison Clarke, Kate Hartley, Andy Barr, Farzana Baduel, Richard Bagnall, Hon FCIPR, FPRCA, FAMEC, Ann-Marie Blake, Jane Brearley (She/Her), Graham Goodkind, Nik Govier, Anne Gregory, Shayoni Lynn FCIPR FPRCA, Rachael Marshall, Advita Patel, Andrew Bruce Smith. 👉 More details here: www.sociallymobile.org.uk
