Gartner's Top 10 Strategic Technology Trends for 2026 are here 💡 With one of them being an idea I've authored together with Lydia Leong, David Smith, Gregor Petri, René Büst and Gene Alvarez. Geopatriation is prompting organizations to move workloads to sovereign, secure environments such as sovereign clouds and on-premises data centers. Explore the strategies shaping tomorrow: https://gtnr.it/42M7BIP Read the dedicated research on Geopatriation: https://lnkd.in/dMi3b-ru Gartner for IT | #GartnerSYM #TechTrends #AI #CIO #Technology #Cloud #Geopatriation

“So, how is digital preservation different from cloud storage?” One of my first questions to Jacobo, when we sat down for lunch in Madrid. Here’s what I learned: ☁️ Cloud storage keeps data somewhere safe. 🕰️ Digital preservation keeps data accessible, trustworthy, and meaningful… forever. Just because something is stored in the cloud doesn’t mean it will still be readable or usable in the future. It’s not simply about where data lives — it’s about ensuring that the knowledge, culture, and discoveries we create today don’t vanish tomorrow. Because we’re not just talking about files or data. We’re talking about scientific breakthroughs, digital art and heritage, oral histories, research datasets, cultural memory, government records, and more. Without dedicated preservation, those could quietly disappear as formats, systems, and technologies evolve. With modern preservation platforms like Libnova, we now have the power to ensure our digital heritage lasts forever. Not just stored — but accessible to future generations. It immediately clicked for me: This isn’t just technology. 💡 It’s humanity’s backup plan. #DigitalPreservation #Libnova

Within the next 20 years, Jeff Bezos predicts that the biggest AI clusters won’t be built on Earth, but above it. In space, sunlight never fades and cooling isn’t a limit. Gigawatt-scale training could run nonstop, powered directly by the sun. Space isn’t just the next frontier. It’s the next Cloud.

Jeff Bezos predicts that within the next 10 to 20 years, massive gigawatt-scale data centers will be built in space. These space-based centers would benefit from continuous solar power without weather interruptions, making them more efficient and potentially cheaper than Earth-based data centers. Driven by soaring demand from #AI and cloud computing, Bezos sees space as the next frontier for scalable, sustainable data infrastructure despite challenges like maintenance and launch costs.

The ARC Hub for ICT understands that AI-driven innovation depends on strong, intelligent digital foundations 🌐. From cloud systems to adaptive cities, infrastructure is more than just the backbone of technology, it’s what enables connected, sustainable, and data-driven societies. 🎥 Hear from Professor Ivana Dusparic, our Pillar Lead for Digital Infrastructure, as she shares how this thematic pillar is advancing scalable and future-proof systems to power the next generation of AI. 🔗 Learn more about how to be part of our mission to build intelligent digital ecosystems at https://ict.archub.ie/ #ARCHub4ICT #ARCHubs #ArcHub #TUDublinResearchandInnovation #ictresearch #WeAreTUDublin #euinmyregion

🌩️ When Clouds Go Down, Your Science Shouldn’t This week’s AWS outage was a reminder: critical workloads can’t afford single-cloud dependency — especially in climate monitoring, restoration, or real-time sensing. At DotMote, we built SWEEP to be cloud-agnostic from day one. That means: ✅ Run the same Earth data workflow across AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud ✅ Failover to alternate clouds when one provider stalls ✅ Keep sensors online, models running, and data moving — no matter what 🌎 Whether you’re mapping wetlands, forecasting ET, or tracking forests under heat stress — resilience starts at the infrastructure layer. We believe cloud freedom = scientific freedom. Curious? Let’s talk. #cloudnative #geospatial #climate #resilience #sweepworkflows #dotmote #awsoutage #multicloud #earthdata

Nearly a year ago, the EuroScienceGateway (ESG) project achieved an important milestone: deploying Galaxy + Pulsar on the EOSC EU Node — a major step toward a federated, FAIR, and reusable scientific infrastructure in Europe. This work demonstrated how researchers could easily launch their own Galaxy instances on the European Open Science Cloud, bringing reproducibility and scalability closer to everyday practice. As 2025 continues to advance open science initiatives, this achievement deserves another look. Building sustainable, interoperable research platforms is a long game — and ESG’s contribution remains a key example of collaboration done right. 🔗 Read the original news and watch the deployment demo: https://lnkd.in/gM6wDyWc #UseGalaxy #GalaxyProject #UniFreiburg #EOSC #EuroScienceGateway
