Is AI Killing The Planet? 🤖🔥 Recently, I was invited to a conversation hosted by Hugo Rauch of VCo2 | The Climate Investing Podcast to delve into the costs and benefits of AI. Joined by Hampus Jakobsson from Pale blue dot, seasoned AI investor and supporter, and Matteo Turchetta, founder of AI start-up KoraLabs, this was a great opportunity for a nuanced discussion about AI. The last year has seen a tectonic shift in the the quality and power of the gen AI tools available to the mass market, leading to the integration of AI into every business. It's a profound change to how we do everything from basic coding to market research to finding patterns in data. It can help us find everything from new pizza restaurants to wildfires and new materials. How do VCs filter out those building something impactful and defensible from the noise? How should we think about the double-digit increase in electricity demand AI-in-everything is going to drive? As a society, can we protect those most vulnerable to the misinformation and biases inherent to gen models? We cover all these questions and more, and it still felt like we only scratched the surface! This is such an important and fast-changing space that benefits and hits us all. Let's keep the conversation going. 📺 Watch on YouTube: https://lnkd.in/e8MG3C8e 🎧 Listen to the podcast: https://lnkd.in/e-iTdeHG Thanks for the conversation Hugo, Hampus & Matteo! 🙌 #AI #Climatetech #VC #Cleantech 2w#ZeroCarbon

I don’t think that AI needs to be all or nothing—we can still achieve incredible improvements in productivity and innovation without AGI. But how can we work to integrate our existing strengths with this new technology to achieve maximum output? In my opinion, it’s all about process redesign. When electricity first arrived, many factories simply swapped their steam engine for a single dynamo generator - but they kept the old line-shaft and belt layout, which resulted in no productivity gains. It was only when factories were redesigned so that each machine had its own small electric motor that productivity truly began to increase. On our most recent episode of Agents of Tech, I spoke with Gary Marcus about doing the same with AI; as well as distinguishing between what the studies say vs. the hype. Want to hear more of our conversation? Listen to full episode linked in the comments below. I’m also curious to know, do you feel like AI has made people faster or better? Feel free to drop a quick note in the comments about a task AI has improved for you (or not).

Wait, we’re UNDER hyping AI? We know that it might feel like AI is all we talk about right now. But today’s guest has a hot take. Despite being in the middle of an AI hype cycle, Jason Murray believes that, as an industry, we’re just not taking it seriously enough. He says that by 2028, the industry is going to look VERY different. And if you’re not committing to AI now, your business will be left behind. So dive into today’s episode with Shipium to hear how you can get ready for the not-so-distant future. Plus: 👉Tariff talk – why there’s a bigger problem that sits behind them 👉How to navigate tech investment in a cost-sensitive climate 👉Why tangible results are made of incremental wins, not immediate transformation Watch to the full episode here: https://hubs.la/Q03Khmyv0 Listen to the full episode here: https://hubs.la/Q03KhjGB0 How do you feel about the pace of change in AI? Context is everything. Without it, AI hallucinates, dashboards mislead, and decisions drift off-course. With it, data becomes insight, and insight becomes action. AI without context is like a pilot flying blind. Context engineering changes that. It’s about feeding systems the right data, at the right time, so AI can ground its answers in reality. That means pulling from live operations, customer interactions, and enterprise systems — not just static databases. With context, AI shifts from “impressive but risky” to useful, reliable, and business-critical. I sat down with Kai Waehner, Global Field CTO at Confluent, on the TEQ Shift podcast to explore why context matters so much — and how leaders across industries are designing for it. Data streaming keeps context alive in real time — milliseconds, not days. It bridges operational systems, AI models, and business workflows so you’re always acting on the latest truth. 👉 Listen to the episode on your favourite podcast platform — and discover how context can turn AI hype into real-world impact. #datastreaming #contextengineering #ai

AI–powered climate models promise unprecedented predictive power and new tools for mitigation. Yet they raise ethical and epistemological dilemmas about certainty, authority, and how humanity envisions its relationship with the planet, writes Dr Dimitrios Salampasis (PhD, F-FIN, MAICD, MSID, CMBE). ✔️ New AI climate models promise ultra–detailed simulations to help predict and mitigate climate change. ✔️These tools open a new era where technology doesn’t just reflect reality but generates possible climate futures. ✔️Yet overreliance on synthetic certainty raises ethical concerns about trust, knowledge, and our relationship with the planet. 💡hmmm... I can imagine the next step will be a full upgrade of irrigation and drainage systems, and even fertilization since soil moisture directly affects nutrient uptake. With AI, what used to be unimaginable can now be digitized, analyzed, and continuously optimized, building on a fully digital process.
