A real case challenge for our students from the Specializing MDS Master Strategic Design – The hands-on workshop with Deutsche Telekom’s PIX unit offered participants a unique opportunity to apply their skills in a real-world context. Guided by Deutsche Telekom’s Design & CX team and the Product Services Team at PIX, they carried out field research and rapid envisioning to explore what an “AI-First” workplace for product teams could look like in the near future. The challenge invited them to rethink how the Product Trio — product managers, designers, and engineers — will collaborate within an AI-supported product development process. Students investigated opportunities such as faster discovery, personalized workflows, and greater accessibility, while also addressing potential risks like creative flattening and adoption friction. Their proposals considered the complexity of multicultural and distributed teams, envisioning new collaboration models, tools, routines, and inclusive experiences. Several of these concepts will contribute to Deutsche Telekom’s future vision of the AI-First workplace, to be showcased at the T Gallery by the end of 2025. A special thanks to the coaches Daniela Maurer and Leandro Sgro for their guidance and support throughout the project, and to Markus Reuter, Bernd Hammer, Dirk Hessenbruch, Anne Elsesser, Henning Klein, and Kristina Glave for their valuable participation.
