New publication alert 📢 In "Working in Europe with a Single Permit: a Golden Ticket or Pie in the Sky?" I explore the implications of the new recast Single Permit Directive on the #livedexperiences of third country nationals working in Europe. I argue that whilst some of the deficiencies of the original single permit regime that created conditions for exploitation have been addressed in the new European rules, Member States must now seize the opportunity to re-design their national mechanisms with a view to frontloading procedural and administrative guarantees that are grounded in a #rightsbasedapproach. The premise of the article is drawn from empirical findings of studies conducted by the Equality & Refugee Law Clinics de l'ULB & Brussels Institute for Social and Population Studies with the support of Platform for Undocumented Migrants (PICUM) CNCD-11.11.11 FAIRWORK Belgium ACV, Algemeen Christelijk Vakverbond Orbitvzw Ligue Des droits humains ABVV, Algemeen Belgisch Vakverbond Fundación Cepaim Association for Integration and Migration- SIMI.

Most European countries have their own challenges to attract, train and retain professional drivers, but it's often the case that strategies act in regional and national isolation, without looking at good practices going on elsewhere. Sharing knowledge is such a simple, effective way to learn from others.
