How familiar are you with the clinical trial process? ⬇️ This week is National Health Education Week – and a great time to talk about the important role clinical research plays in helping scientists bring forward safe and effective treatments. 👩🔬 Before any drug is approved, it first goes through rigorous testing to figure out things like risks and benefits, side effects, and the right dosage. Clinical trials require four phases (plus government review and approval) to make sure treatments are both safe and effective. ❓ What’s the purpose of each phase? ❓ How many people must enroll in each phase? Just wrapped up "Thinking Critically: Interpreting Randomized Clinical Trials" course from Stanford University School of Medicine — One of the most impactful courses I’ve taken this year. 📚 In an age where clinical research shapes policy, practice, and patient care, the ability to interpret randomized clinical trials (RCTs) accurately and critically is essential — not just for researchers, but for anyone involved in healthcare or data-driven decision-making. Here’s what makes this course truly stand out: 🟡 Real-World Relevance: The course focuses on real clinical trial examples, not just theory — helping bridge the gap between academic knowledge and practical application.
🟡 Bias Detection: Learn how to spot common sources of bias and how they can distort findings.
🟡 Study Design Deep Dive: Gain a solid foundation in the design elements that make or break a trial’s validity — from randomization and blinding to control groups and endpoints.

The goal of HES4A is to support the career development and academic progress of faculty conducting health equity research. Grants will be awarded to address the challenges that historically marginalized faculty typically experience and help them overcome obstacles to earning tenure. HES4A projects focus on transformative, action-oriented evidence addressing structural barriers and are aligned with RWJF’s mission to achieve equity.
