📣We’re excited to announce a new Journal Home partnership between ResearchGate and the International Institute of Anticancer Research (IIAR), publisher of a respected portfolio of cancer research journals. This collaboration will bring the all IIAR Journals – Anticancer Research, In Vivo, Cancer Genomics & Proteomics, and Cancer Diagnosis & Prognosis – to ResearchGate’s active global community of 25+ million researchers. 🚨 New preprint out! 🚨 Thrilled to share Cancer in 4D: Towards Spatiotemporal Hallmark Ecosystems (SHEs) 👉 https://lnkd.in/dASFfvCn The classical Hallmarks of Cancer framework distilled complexity into shared traits. But it remained largely static: it tells us what tumours need to do, but not where in the tumour these traits occur, when they arise, or how they reorganize during progression and therapy. In this work, we propose Spatiotemporal Hallmark Ecosystems (SHEs) — a new conceptual lens that integrates: 🔹 spatial architecture 🔹 temporal dynamics 🔹 hallmark biology Key ideas: • Hallmarks are ecosystem-level programs, not just intrinsic clone features. • Identical mutations can yield divergent outcomes depending on context. • Resistance is not only genetic, but an emergent property of resilient tumour ecosystems. • By focusing on ecosystem architectures, we can improve biomarkers, clinical trial design, and even digital twins of tumours. This was a true team effort with Mustafa Sibai, Martin Zacharias, Nicholas McGranahan, and Mariam Jamal-Hanjani.
