As things stand, this Government is on track to preside over the sharpest increase in child poverty by any Labour Government in the last 60 years. Fully repealing the two-child limit on benefits is by far the best way to turn that tide. Half measures have been mooted – from moving to a three-child limit to exempting working families – but our latest modelling reveals that they would all still lead to an increase in child poverty by the end of the decade.
