Product Owners… we need to talk. This role has become way too passive. Let’s call out what needs to stop 👇 ✋ Stop thinking your job is just Jira grooming. → The backlog is a byproduct of your thinking, not the product itself. ✋ Stop writing user stories like you’re filling out a form. → If it doesn’t reflect a real user problem, it’s just noise. ✋ Stop chasing every stakeholder’s wishlist. → You’re not a waiter. You’re here to make decisions, not take orders. ✋ Stop hiding behind “business priorities.” → If you haven’t pushed back, you haven’t done your job. ✋ Stop trying to look busy. → Your value isn’t in activity. It’s in outcomes. You are: → The voice of the product. → The translator of chaos. → The bridge between strategy and execution. If you’re not thinking, influencing, deciding — you’re drifting. No polished wrap-up here. Just truth. What would you add to this list? Let’s call it like it is. #ProductOwner #ProductManagement #Leadership #Agile #Delivery #BacklogGrooming #StakeholderManagement #Execution #PMMindset #BuildBetter
First of all, you need to love your product. Then the actions that can lead to its degradation will be minimized and resolved. And the processes leading to its prosperity will also be formed.
Love this. I’d also add: ✋ Stop avoiding users. → If you're not talking to them regularly, you're guessing—not building
Stop treating your team and the Scrum Master, if you are lucky enough to have one, like your EA. Remember most organisations make their Scrum Masters inhabit two or more teams whilst you have the Luxury of one team. If your backlog is a mess that's on you.
ABSOLUTELY!!!! Being a PO is a unique opportunity that allows you to control the vision of what is being built or the future of where it needs to go. It should be challenging and fast paced. If your sitting around "Filling out forms" then you are missing the mark. The PO is always moving and shaking things up. Organized chaos with purpose. We need PPOs - Passion Product Owners
Let's also focus on validating assumptions through rapid experimentation.
You are the leader to deliver what your customers actually need, not what they want or wish, which may not address their actual pains best. You must remain focus through all the noise and requests that come from everywhere. #ProductManagement #Leadership
Let's add here also that Product Owners needs to be a product advocate and a good negotiator.

6moI’d add one more point: Stop waiting for “perfect” requirements. Innovation happens in iterations. Start with a hypothesis and refine it as you learn. This approach helps us embrace uncertainty, iterate quickly, and ultimately build products that really address user needs.
