If you're not married... ...and you don't have children, what will happen to your assets if you die? I know that no one wants to think about their passing or untimely death, but it is necessary to make arrangements for the future. So, what does happen without a Will? Your assets will pass through a number of relatives. If there are no relatives, it goes back to the state. No one wants Boris Johnson living in their beloved home! It's worth bearing this in mind... A "partner" or "significant other" does not automatically inherit. They are left with nothing whatsoever, and can only appeal to the courts if they have proof that they lived with the deceased for up to two years. It sounds like a headache worth avoiding! Have you made a Will? What's putting you off?
