📍 Doha, Qatar
🗓 30 September 2025
The UNODC Regional Center for Combating Cybercrime in Doha was honored to present at the 15th INTERPOL MENA Meeting on Cybercrime for Heads of Units, hosted by the Ministry of Interior of Qatar in collaboration with INTERPOL.
This important platform brought together senior leaders from across the Middle East and North Africa to exchange experiences, strengthen partnerships, and shape our collective response to the evolving cybercrime landscape.
In the presentation, Deputy Chief of the Center Jassim Al-Kuwari emphasized the following:
✅ Achievements of the Center – In less than two years, we have provided training and technical assistance to over 60 countries, helping national agencies strengthen their investigative, prosecutorial, and policy-making capacities in the fight against cybercrime.
✅ Our specialized training catalogue – Covering areas such as digital forensics, open-source intelligence, cryptocurrency tracing, ransomware response, child online exploitation investigations, and the “Training of Trainers” model to ensure sustainable expertise at national level.
✅ The historic adoption of the UN Convention against Cybercrime – The first ever global treaty addressing cybercrime. Jassim highlighted how the Convention provides a unified framework for international cooperation and how our Center will support MENA countries in the processes of ratification and implementation, including the upcoming signing ceremony in Hanoi.
✅ Partnerships and accessibility – Encouraging national stakeholders to continue reaching out to us directly to benefit from our resources, workshops, and mentoring initiatives.
Together, through joint action and shared vision, we are making tangible progress toward building stronger, more resilient systems to combat cybercrime in our region and beyond. 🌍🔐
